SFC II EAW Multi-era mod issues.
« on: June 17, 2005, 10:50:26 pm »
Howdy, all!

I'm playing the Multi-era mod on SFC II EAW v 2036 on Windows XP.  It's a wonderful mod, but I'm having two issues.  One is, in the TOS version all the ships are itty-bitty.  The second is more irritating.  When I"m playing the TMP version, once I reach a cruiser level ship the game freezes and crashes.  Not to the desktop, but just crashes to a black screen.  The task manager is all that can save me then.
Does anyone have any clue what I'm doing wrong?  Bear in mind I"m a total tech-idiot, so please phrase all answers in the form of a "Dick and Jane" book.  (kidding).  Other than these two minor problems I have loved every second of playing the Multi-era mod.

Thanks!   ;D

Hello Skinny. I'm the mod producer and I'm not sure why the TOS ships are itty bitty as they look normal to me here in a single player game I just flew.

The TMP problem is a shiplist difficulty - nothing you are doing wrong, trust me. It simply means that the TMP shiplist needs a bit of tweaking to make it compatible with the campaigns originally designed for the stock EAW shiplist. It is something I might work on for a possible Multi-Era update - although real life may dictate a long time frame involved. I will mention here that I desire the best possible mod experience for everyone on all of my game mods, but getting there can be time consuming.

Wow!!  THE Chris Jones!  I am totally blasted.

Thanks for answering.  I can't wait for any future updates.  The mod has been awesome to play in most every way.  I'm a huge SFB/TOS fan so those are the options I use most often.  Thanks tons and tons for everything you've brought to Star Trek gaming.

Sincerely,

Me.

The size of the ships in game are determined by the model.siz file in the Assets/Models directory. If the game fails to find the ship model for a ship present in a mission, it will also behave according to the above description.

This sounds like you have the shiplist for the mod, but not the corresponding model pack which will include both the model.siz file and the models for the ships in the shiplist.

Really?  Crud, that sounds very techy and complicated.  How and/or where do I go about getting those files and installing them?
I had originally gotten the mod from the Chris Jones site.  (At least I'm pretty sure I did.)  Was there a part I forgot to download?  Or something I didn't do with the installer initially?  I'm very thankful for any pointers on the size issue as TOS is my special jones.

Thanks tons all!
