I am so not worthy....

Major Racal did an awesome job on the Aviary to begin with.

In my corner of the late TMP era Trek universe the Romulans have cool bases like this and are way ahead on the technology curve but remain resource poor and unable to utilize their superior technology to the fullest extent they wish they could....

There's nothing quite like seeing the ST: New Worlds Melak orbiting this fine FASA Romulan base.

Length: 498 m
Width: 206 m
Height: 152 mt, increased to 170 mt for later models.
Weight: 1.310.000 mt

Yep - that's pretty much what happened with the Fed bases from the movies when they moved over to TNG - they suddenly got MUCH bigger.

For easyness of modding and ingmae play I'd prefer the smaller version. Large bases in BC are dificult to attack simply because they are so huge, just donb't work well. Besides, we got one or 2 massive ones already, I'll use the outpost sized one instead.
