Ok what did I do worng here
« on: May 30, 2005, 10:28:47 pm »
trying to make my own personal mod with ships from moddelers I like.

This is  what It was  OPPLUS/MODELS/FNCL/FNCL.MOD And I changed it too

Assets/Models/Atra/Federation/Surya/surya1.mod

Now this should have worked but I keep getting a blank screen instead of the ship when entering the game.

Well it sounds like an incorrect directory pointer, someway. That's what causes a blank screen. You might find that it's something easy to overlook. Especially if you typed it in manually. If you used shipedit and just clicked on the path, then it's pretty hard to mess up. Unless you clicked on surya1.BMP instead of surya1.mod, or something, by accident.

Did you edit the Assets/models/model.siz file?
You need to add the model name and its size so that a new ship can show up in the game correctly.
You can use notepad to open and edit it.

First question is as always what version of the game are you trying to modify?
People always said they wanted the government to listen to them and now the government is listening, taking notes and names...and coming to see you soon!

America-Not the land of the free anymore...
Its the land of the freeloaders

Remember the axiom of big government bureaucrats: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. When, finally, under the crushing weight of taxes and regulation, it stops moving, subsidize it.

Well I found the problem, I did not get that far down in the ship list yet. And I just picked the wrong varient of the ship in question to test.

And Im using firesoul's ship list op+4.0 and all I want to do is swap out some of the ships, with ones that I like. I have ship edit but have to date never used it other than to look at the ship stats.

And I have never had to mess with the Model's size file, as the last patch for OP included a auto size feature, so that takes care of haveing to mess with that file.

The new name of the ship must also be modified in defaultcore.txt, AlternateUIName section and defaultloadout.txt, UIName section.
The .txt file in shipname folder is a match with the SubName filed from defaultcore.txt

* The defaultcore and defaultloadout can be found in Assets/Specs/
