Sethan and other p/c people
« on: June 10, 2005, 04:32:32 pm »
I bought a new P/C today and it boots up and tells me no input signal from input 2:HD15

I prefer NOT going back to Fry's and turning it in, so what does that error message mean? No wonder we cannot compete globally tech wise anymore, frigging monkeys cannot build a machine in the U.S. right the first time anymore, I KNEW I should have bought another Sony made in Japan.

Anyways, anger aside, it does look sharp, It is an AMD 3500 plus with 1 gig RAM upgradeable to 2 gigs.

Sethan, if you need more info, holler at me via PM and shoot me your telephone number.

Oh yeah, Windows XP starts, but then it says please wait later and i wait, wait, and wait.

I'm  ready to load up SH 3 and go sink some ships!

It means your monitor is not getting a signal from the PC.

If the monitor has more than one input, the problem may be that it is trying to use the wrong one - otherwise, it is likely that the PC is not putting out a video signal.

Hooked up the OLD digiview and no problem, BUT Windows XP just keeps telling me to wait and wait, am I supposed to wait all day? Fry's should hire YOU to do QA before shipping Sethan, obviously the monkeys at their factory cannot do the job right the first time, don't they know what PnP means nowadays?

Talked to Jerry Seth, the problem is in P/C, so... Off to Fry's tomorrow before I can play with my new toy. But man o man does this Sony 19" LCD rock the house! If only I had been rich and could have had this stuff when SFC 2 was released, 4 years ago Canada West was rocking the house server wise!

NEC 22" is better.  :)

I admit I was impressed with the 22" monitors, but for more than the price of a P/C?  ::) Hehehehehe, no thanks, I'll wait.

It was a tad expensive.  But great for SFC, movies and editing text files with the whole page of text on screen.  Few surprises in the printouts when you actually see the whole page (optionally 2 facing pages).

I only bought it when due to a coworker injuring himself at work (co chair of the health and safety committee and he tripped over something he left in an unsafe location ;)) I had to work much of a scheduled 3 week Christmas vacation.  Since I had already planned to buy a 19" monitor I bought the 22" by adding some of the extra income.  It helped to make up for the fouled up vacation.

I can only imagine what SFC must be like, I still plan on installing it on the new P/C when Fry's is done repairing it. Don't forget all the cool SW games out now, but I held back, as I want strictly a starfighter combat game.

I must say the home theaters are WAY DOWN in price, and I never sat in a movie style sofa set and listened to SW and actually thought I was in the VIP lounge in Chihuahua's theatres before. I LOVE OUR COUNTRY!  ;)

I hate the return process at frys. You wait in line with all the other poor bastards that couldn't fix their problem with liberal amounts of duct tape or kicking. Then your return gets examined. Then examined some more. Then they send it to another line for a replacement...which takes about 20 min to happen.

The whole process reminds me of something....

that's it!

THE DMV!

Then...it means that the DMV has infliltrated the computer industry.

10 minutes total time in and out, not bad at all! I'm still miffed at their QA when they build stuff, no more Fry's brand stuff for me!  ;)

Most of what Fry's sells in their electronics is refurbished anyways.

It's not too bad now.  Many years ago, in one of my first IT gigs, I was a tech for Computer City (Owned by Tandy).  We had a brand called US Logic that had such a high out-of-box failure rate (somewhere akin to 40%) we finally had to take new purchases back to the repair center and test them before we let the customer leave the store.

Well, let's not get hasty.. it was Tandy after-all.. it was just easier than the manager dealing with the customer who got it home, set it up, found it broken, and was fuming by the time he packed it all back up and brought it back.

I have never seen Tandy do anything that wasn't in the best interest of Tandy Corp.
