Freezing Time
« on: September 30, 2005, 09:57:34 pm »
Is there a way to freeze a campaign in a certain era or even, preferably, a certain year?  I love playing with Old Series Romulan and Federation ships, but I prefer not having to tangle with X-Ships while tooling about in my Battlehawk. ;D

You can go into the Time GF file and set the turns per year to some ungodly amount. I don't know what the upper limit is so you would have to experiment. You can also set the Miliseconds per Turn setting higher to slow down the turn rate, but this will also slow down your shipyards. Play around with them to find something to suit you, but be sure to back up the original file in case you FUBAR it. I don't think you can actually stop the clock though.

Your welcome.

It just occurred to me that if it is ship production you want to stop, you can set all ships in the shiplist that you don't want to appear as "R" in the Special Role column. They will not appear anywhere after that. Be warned though, if the mission calls for that specific ship to appear it will probably crash.

Another thing you could try is setting the Year First Available to 999 for all ships you don't want around. The missions will generate them if needed (I'm assuming the campaign here, normal "Conquest" missions don't usually call up particular ships).

Just slowing the time progression to a near-halt will probably be enough.  I am playing Conquest.  I kinda you could select a 'permanent early' campaign or something.  I have a lot of fun in the old-school frigates. ;D
