Got a reply a short time ago from Frey saying he'll be heading out soon to check on Thor.
But, he also said he had no prior notification of problems...donno...

I see it is down now.  Is this still part of the crash described in this thread, or is the server over?

It's a "still" down thing...3 days in a row, goes down in the wee small hours of the morning, stays down until the evening hours... :-\
Frey's on it, however.  :notworthy:

Thanks, Krueg.  (and thanks, Frey).  I'll check back on it again later.

At this point, should we bother putting it back up?

I am here at the office, been working on this for the last hour or so, sorry it took me so long to get up here, but real life calls...

Here's what I am going to do:

It was the replacement drive, so I'm going to drive back hom (15 min trip), get another replacement (40 GB NEW), drive back to the office, clone the system drive again (20 min) , then bring the server up and start the serverkit. Since Die Hard moved the actual serverkit over to the D drive instead of running it off his desktop, and hence the C Drive, there'll be no loss of data (we think ;) ).

So, let me get outta here and get this done!!! Mirror Mirror WILL LIVE !!!

Well, should we at least ask the rest of the players? Maybe a Poll? Maybe even at least opinions from the RMs?
A ruling from Hexx on it?...and the other half dozen things that have been asked over the past 2 weeks?  ;D

Well, looks like the decision has been made, since it was never brought back up.
Guess we....? Wait for Hexx to do the totals...? Or we can simply announce any base-placement scores and compare notes...easy enough to verify by checking the map. PvP kill scores are easy enough to figure out.
Cool...back to WarCraft 3 I go...

I for one am helping Padame fix the Mirror Mirror setup for the SQL server of Mirror Mirror.. maybe we can run Part II on there for stability purposes..

I have already fixed one *.gf file and hopefully Padame will get it restarted with the settings so we can check DV shifts and AI help to see if those 2 items were removed properly..

Next, if errors still occur, I'll edit the shiplist and shoot it to Padame and that will definately fix the errors, and as such, it would need a new installer for the community, but hopefully, the *.GF file fixes the problems that happened (removing Rom, ISC and Lyran from the AI helpers listing (as well as Orion races)).

Of note, I ran a mission friday that gave me a gorn AI helper. 1st and only time I'm aware that the mirror federation side got alternate race help.

The server is still PHYSICALLY not operational.  It has not come back up because if is not possible.

As far as I know, no decisions have been made, I simply cannot bring it back up as the HD has failed.  When Frey repairs the HD, then the server can continue if that is desired by Hexx or if he is not available the RMs.

sh*t happens people, deal with it.   Granted the odds of 2 HDs dying in the same week is rare, but Hexx is in charge so you should expect this to be cursed . . .

This is what I am going to do:

http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163356895.0.html

What DH and Hexx do regarding the campaign I cannot say, but I WILL have THOR up tonight.

Regards, and sorry for the inconvenience.

She's dead Jim  ;D

I've not heard from Frey since yesterday so I imagine either really imprtant RL stuff came up or the technical issues are worse that we originally thought.

This is Frey were talking about, the guy who comes throught 10 out of 10.   The Frey, he's a Bad Mother-Fooker . .  .

Ever have an HD crash on you?   I have, it sucks.  Even with backups its a pain in the scrotum.

Have patience, we can play the final 2 days of the server if that is what Hexx and/or the RMs want.

PS,   this will not happen again in the future, I've though of a contingency that will only result in a short outage even if the Server catches fire (with Hexx running servers, this is a real possibility).

DH,

Since we're not getting much word, I put up a poll on the matter.

Barring a sudden surge from the people who haven't played yet, we're looking at keeping it closed...

Must say, the SQL test server is a lot more reliable than the regular server. I've been having all kinds of connection issues since GW5, and this is the first time I've been able to log on and not have to worry about half my missions not counting. Still the occassional hand of Bethke, but I can deal with that. Whatever settings y'all put on the SQL server work like a dream so far.

Next, if errors still occur, I'll edit the shiplist and shoot it to Padame and that will definately fix the errors,

What if Padme isss the one *causssing* the errorsss?  What if I log in, mind my own businessss, and ssshe ssstarts changing my ssshipname to sssomething rediculousss, like Kroma's Little Helper  It'sss getting ssso a ssself-ressspecting Gorn isss afraid to ssshow hisss facsse around here!

<grumble> <grumble>

OK, maybe it *isss* cool that an admin can do that on the fly, while I'm in misssssion, with SQL.  But naming my ssship after Kroma?  I want to put a bounty on an admin!

Hey Padme, since Scippy objects to the ship name you choose let me recommend a few alternatives for him

The "J&B Blended"
The "Proud Democrat"
The "Jimmy Johnson"
The "French and Proud"
The "Ben & Jerry's"
The "Norman Conquest"
or The "Rainbow Warrior"

I'm sure he'd be quite happy with any of the above
