XP Computer Runs Slowly

If you notice your XP system getting a bit slow lately here is one thing your can do to address it.

  • Double click My Computer.
  • Select View | Explorer Bar | Search.
  • Click Change Preferences.
  • Select Without Indexing Service.
  • Click No, do not enable Indexing Service.
  • Click OK.

Toasty, that option for me IS turned off. (running WinXP w/ SP2 already intregrated).

But for thoughs of you who do not have SP2, do what the man says. ;D

You know, I have run across that "service" but never gave it any thought.  There are times it looks like my kids' Athlon XP 2500+ system is speedier than my Athlon 64 3000+.  It always made me scratch my head.  Thanks, Toast!
