Building off of one of Hexx's Idea for Ship CnC
« on: May 26, 2005, 02:00:13 pm »
What do you guys think of this concept for controlling Cheese in the future:

 -  PvP kills count for a VC each but ONLY if the pilot is in a Line/Command ship (CCH or smaller, no Mech links)

This way you can leave specialty/capital ships availble for all but if you want your kills to count, you have to fly a Line/command ship.

Thoughts?

I like it; but I think I'm probably biased because I like line/command ships.  :P

The only problem I see with it is the possibility of it being completely bypassed by everyone being forced into large hulls simply because they are the few who aren't in one to survive.  (Imagine being in a CB always facing dreads and CVAs?)

Veryy good point, take capital ships out of the equation.

Is this good enough for Specialty ships?

EDIT:  What is being chased out of a hex doesn't count if you opponent is in a BCH/DN/BB for purposes of a disengagement rule?

Simply trolling for ideas that i can take credit/blame on hexx later.

want players to fly line ships then only allow VCs for line ships do disengage penalty for them either if they face an equal or larger hull class with even player numbers, and then only if enemy line ships only were involved.  Thus a carrier, commando, escort, or droner could never force a disengagement (likely due to having to resupply or report for assignments as these ships are scarce and can't be spared for simple patrol duties to keep an enemy out).

We think of this at the exact same time?   ;D

control the DN CV by only allowing a few on at any one time and banning from a group of hexes if killed.  even if flown by another player?

It wouldn't be so bad. You could get off several savage remarks questioning the dimensions of their manhood right before disengaging every time. ;) ;D

Yes the OOB used for DNs and carrier on Mirror Mirror is par excellence, just a limit online at any time that is definately the way to go.  More fun and simple than the complex and no fun build point systems of the past.

Who would have thought that Hexx would lead us down the correct path?  :o  Of course I think it was Agave's idea origionally so I guess we don't have to credit Hexx   ;D

This was already debated on this thread...http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163354687.30.html

April 6th I posted that limiting the numbers of ships online at any given time was the way to go, not that I take any credit for the idea, as I'm sure someone posted it before me.

I like the on-line limits for DN/CV being used on Mirror, Mirror as well.   Let's have more servers which use this type of OOB.

I cannot take credit for the idea though.   I do believe Fluf is the originator of it, and it has been used on SFC3 for awhile, from what I've been told.

Actually Fluf originated the full OOB (CA's and up, later pared down to BC's and up) that we first saw on LitterBox 4. That's what I was referring to moreso than the "X number of DN pilots at a time" rule, although I think each have their place.

Agreed, the Mirror Mirror has a place on the D2, the full OOB in the wastebasket  ;)

j/k and messing with t00l, but I doubt I will ever consider playing on a full OOB server again.
