Need info on Fed Early FF from SFB...
« on: May 19, 2005, 04:18:54 pm »
I'm working on my version of the Fed Early Heavy Crusier and Early Frigate and need a little help.  In SFB is the Early Fed Frigate basically a downsized version of the Early Heavy Crusier?  All I have for Early years SSD's is Captians Log #12 and it doesn't seem to have all the ships during the time period.

Also, I found some other Ships based on the Early Years period, and some of the ships are Carriers  :o  I assume these other ships are not "Offical" right?

Yearly years frigate is basicly a unrefited frigate with the square warp engines 3 phaser 2; one foward, one port one starboard  and two photon torpedoes, Engines are the square box type engines 4 boxes each and 2 impluse. Shields are14 boxes each Thats according to Captain"s module y1.So its really a down sized version of the standard frigate not the cruiser.

And yes thoes carriers are not official, as there are no carriers in the early years period except for the Romulans, which had the chickenhawk a sublight ship with sublight fighters still in service.

Ok, if the Early Fed Frigate only uses the "4-box" Warp Engines, what is its movment cost.  Sure is strange that in Captains log #12 it indicates that the Fed Frigate had nearly Identical armament to the Early Fed Heavy Crusier.  I assumed that the Frigate was basically the Forward Saucer Section of the Heavy Crusier with Small Frigate Warp engines attached to it.  Why did Captains Log indicate it had nearly Indentical Armement then?

I think I remember reading once that the Romulans had Fighters in Early years.  But I found some interesting designs for possible Early Years Carriers and the Fighters seemed to be less powerful then the common General War Fighters.

Captain's log 12 was a prevew of the early years rules and ships. But when captains module Y1 came out thoes in captain log 12(which I also have) were no longer official as they made some changes to the ships between 12 and Y1.

Oh and the movment cost is 1/3. When arming everything it can only go 4 hexes per turn.

Everything in Captains logs are playtest stuff, it only becomes official if they say so latter, or it makes it into a captains module. At least thats how I understand it to work.

I think I will, but can you order stuff from ADB (or whoever owns the material now) directly, or do I have to go through the painful process of hunting down distributers or stores to see if they carry the module?
