Codec is short for coder-decoder if i remember right.

Its usually used for compressing or decompression one format into another e.g. wav-->mp3 or divx-->mpeg.

Monty is correct Brian. Different Movies on DVD also can Need Differant Codecs.

Well damn. I tried the download from Pestalence and it didn't work for me. I have to upgrade my computer soon anyway. It's over four years old and that's the longest I've ever had a computer!
