Assuming that there are no Shop Rex attacks . . . .


I plan on creating draft cards for each of you tonight using the sign up list.

To send them to you I need your E-mail addresses.   So please get that to me.

(I have no idea who the RMs even are)



Here's how it works . . ..  .


1.  You will get a list of all players  (Excel format let me know now if that is a problem!!)

2.   You are to arraige them in order of preference.    #1 for your most wanted player and so on.   You must use ALL players on the list.

3.  Then send me your list.

4.  I'll then go down each list and assign out the players and then post the teams.

Here's how it works . . . .

Sample lists . . .


Team One:

1  Die Hard
2. Kroma
3. Mad Elf
4.  J'inn

Team Two:

1.  Kroma
2. Die Hard
3. Mad Elf
4. J'inn


Draft . . . . .

SLot One .. . . .  no conflict so DH and Kroma are drafted

Slot Two  .   DH and Kroma are both gone so move down . . .   

Slot Three . . .  Conflict . . . . Coin toss!    One side gets Mad Elf the other side gets J'inn.


SO . . .  choose your lists wisely . . . .

Will Mirror Mirror have seperate folders for all the ships on both sides so I can use Earth Empire looking models for the side I think is bad?

My question is why would you want to do all that work for a 2 week server? It makes a lot of work in the shiplist.. Hexx is considering maybe 3 or 4 extra folders.. but not redoing the entire Federation Models section.

Well, two week servers are the name of the game these days.  So if I'm not going to do it for a two week server, what would I do it for?  And mostly, I'd populate my new folders for fun.

Most of the work would be on the back of the players, as they would be the ones responsible for replacing all the OP+ standard Fed models with alternates for the empire, if they chose.  I'd choose to do so.  Many might not.

For the shiplist, it's no work at all.
1) Open the shiplist in excel, and drag down the model pointer column to highlight all the entries in the "Empire" list.
2) Under Edit/FindReplace, choose to "replace_all" instances of OPPLUS with EMPIRE

For the installer, I admit there are some code lines to create.  You've got to duplicate all the Fed folders (and their contents) from OPPLUS/models to EMPIRE/models.

I'll discuss it with Hexx.. the thought was to keep space down on the HDD. I can make the installer easy enough.. it is up to Hexx and DH whether they want to make an all inclusive duplicate section for Federation models..

However, you need to keep in mind that this is being based on OP + v4.. it has 74 spots for Federation Models, not counting the stock model locations.. Given this, that is a hell of a lot of duplication of models on a person's system.. 307 MB in just OP +

Now that would be 614 MB of Federation Models after duplicating just the OP + Fed models...

Considering that some people still have old HDD's and that they may be almost full.. wouldn't you think that keeping the size of the server installer down would be more benificial?

3 or 4 folders for the main line ships is cool.. but not the enitre Federation models..

Plus it would take me about 6 hours building the Batch file to work correctly for all the models, plus another 2 hours making up an uninstall batch file, testing if they all work.. the Installer size would still be quite small, but the ammount of information that it will install IMHO wouldn't be worth it...

If you have specific hull specifications, maybe it can be narrowed down some.. Hexx has about 3 ot 4 he wants in it by default, but that is where I think he decided to stop..

Remember the need of the many outweigh the need of the few or the one..

All the Fed warshops in OP+ now use the OPPLUS folder, so you can skip the freightors etc. that still have pointers to the stock folders.  If Hexx took out the escorts and droners as he was suggesting, then you can skip those too.

If your concern is mostly about HDD space, then little can be done.  I'd hate to think OP+ has grown so big we don't have room for custom servers anymore, however.   If we were talking about a test or "fun" server I'd agree; but Mirror Mirror  is the big gorilla on the block these days. 

If your concern is time required to create the BAT file, maybe I can help?  I can create a BAT file (ASCII format) to duplicate the Fed ship folders, if the text lines from such a file could be inserted into your installer.

Once DH has time to confirm that I haven't screwed the list or map up beyond usage
we'll do a second list that has extra slots for CA/NCL/BCH/CC
(assuming DH doesn't have an embolism and try and convince his congressional representitive to
nuke Canada)
Really most of the Feds ships(that people will fly) fall into about those 4 model cateagories anyway.
That being said DH is my tech guy for this stuff so if it complicates things to much for him it won't happen.

I assume full and complete responsibilty if this upsets someone, but I haven't been able to sit down and get everything I wanted into this either. so Mirror2 uhmmm, Mirrror 2.0 will happen someday..
