Topic: Sigh, Time to retire the old PC desk.

Ok, so I'm not that sad about It, It just won't fit through the door to my office.

Anyway's I've been doing some Googling looking for just the right desk. I need one for Dual 19" widescreen Monitors, a Printer , Flat bed Scanner, and IF at all possible a place to put the tower up off the ground.

I'd prefer to assemble It myself, as Then I could bring in each piece. A corner unit would be great. Any of you guys seen a good company with a desk like this?

I recently got my kids the "JERKER" (no jokes, please) model computer desks for my kids from IKEA.  There's plenty of room for them to spread their junk out on even after a keyboard, mousepad, and monitor (one is a 21" monster).  The computers themselves are either on a cart next to a desk or tethered to a support platform hanging from the side of the other one.

I was busy, so my wife singlehandedly assembled both, so it wasn't supercomplex or heavy.

which is as close as I can navigate to the actual page where the particular desk style, JERKER, is found.  But browse around, and you might find maybe even something else you like better.

But I went to the website, too, and they don't have a brick and mortar store anywhere near OK.  You will have to use their webstore; personally, I like to touch the wares first, especially if it's furniture.

Also, my personal opinion is that their prices are generally decent, but the quality is only generally so-so; most things are fiberboard, pressboard rather than plywood or solid wood, hence the lower prices; and the density of the pressboard varies depending on the specific item.  However, I am STILL using a desk I bought there and I like it a lot (how do you break a desk, unless you're kind of really rough on your own stuff?)

Heh, Believe It or not, I've Broken quite a few Press Board desk's in my life time. For example, My tower Itself wieghs in at close to 100lbs. Then again, I have the thing stuffed to the Brim with PC stuff.

I'll check out the link though, If nothing else, I might be able to use additional support using a few 1x2's

I hate pressboard desks those things are junk.  I don't think I've kept one more than a year before I had to throw it out.  Finally a couple of years ago I bought an old professors desk from an auction from the University of Michigan for about a $100USD.  This thing is made out of solid oak around 1900 or 1903 and weighs about 500 pound.  I've been to a few college/university auctions, they are the best place to find solid office furniture cheap.  A friend of mine bought two old PIII 1000mhz computers for $20USD neither of them worked but he took the two apart and made one that did.  Now we use that system for a Neverwinter Nights server.  If you can keep an eye out for one of these auctions, it can't hurt to look.  Hope this helps.

Thanks Javora, I might just do that.

Heck I might have to get an Editing table. My sis-in-law just bought me two 32" TV's for all the work I've done getting her home set up. I was just talking to Clark Kent today, about how I had to use 6 gauge tri-flex to temp in our homes.
