Very nice indeed, my only critique is that it has no deflector dish. Based on your ship history of being put in service in 2239 I expected to see one on the bottom of the saucer, like in the Saladin/Hermes class.

your right MP the original model didn't have one either. i should have added one.
the history is also from the original model that's why i thought to kitbash it,
since that story line indicates the okinawa should have a tos version
the original was by p81 and atheorhaven i think there was no credit file with it.

Eh, just throw one under the saucer like the Saladin - that would work me-thinks

You know, if the original TMP-era one doesn't have a deflector, I don't think y'all should really be giving Garath crap about his TOS version not having one...  :D

I don't really care for the deflector dish idea, or any background history that makes her some very old design: She looks too new, as if incorporating some design elements of the 2270s fleet, as if it were a prelude to things to come.  Also, thanks to WZ in addressing the issue, if it's a small ship, then the Constitution-class would be smaller, if you think about the window sizes and the bridge module.

But despite those nitpicks, I still like the design.  It needs a bit more work in my opinion, that's all.  The Okinawa-class has been one of my favorite frigate designs, so I'm bound to analyze it here and there...  Maybe put a D in the registry?  Something like NCC-D305?  Sort of an allusion to TAS registry, perhaps. *shrug*

However, as she's released, I guess I'll have to make do with what I have, and this is still good enough.  You've put quite an effort into her.

Please don't get me wrong I luv the ship and the great job ya did on it. I was just curious as to why it had no deflector. As for the Connie being smaller ? I always considered the original Connie to be a Light Cruiser up until it's refit. I mean at 289m she was only slightly larger then the 243m Miranda ,hence my logic. But maybe that's just me.  :P

Here's what I mean.

Wicked Zombie's Okinawa-class U.S.S. Torishima

I find this very accurate to the Okinawa-class from the stock SFC ships and Klingon Academy ships.  Look at the window sizes, the bridge module.  Then take a look at this size comparison.  That's the Torishima and the Kirishima being compared to the Constitution-class Refit.  Pretty big, wouldn't you say?  I thought so.  That's why WZ also had in mind the much-smaller version:

Wicked Zombie's Okinawa-class U.S.S. Kirishima

Look at the windows and bridge module.  It fits with its proper size, to which is compared with the Torishima and Constitution-class refit in that same size comparison picture.

That's the nitpick I've been trying to point out with the Tarawa, its window-sizes (and number of windows) as well as its bridge module.  I never payed attention to it actually until WZ highlighted it out for me...

Actually that's probably Moonraker's Okinawa parts. He and I are the only ones who've made 'new' Okinawa models (as far as I know), and Moon had a knack for not including readme files.

As for the deflector, I wouldn't add one either - the TMP version never had one and there's no rule that says all Feds absolutely need an obvious deflector dish.

I have a couple of TMP Okinawa frigates that have deflectors that I got from moonrakers site. His USS Riches and USS Black both have 'em.

Where exactly did you download the original model from? The parts (warps and saucer) are from my SFB connie, and it has a readme file in the zip.

Now what windows need fixed?

Take a look at my last post again Garath, and you'll notice that for it to look properly-scaled as a frigate, you'll need to do the entire set of windows all over the ship, and perhaps modify the bridge module, maybe get rid of it and replace it with the top of it enlarged.  Any visible phaser banks might need to be enlarged too so it would work for her size...  I personally don't like the deflector dishes there.  Perhaps seperating the Photon launcher into two bays and include one single deflector dish there?
And as WZ said, I don't think a deflector dish (or two) needs to be there.  This frigate looks like X-tech in the TOS-era, leaning closer to TMP.  We all know in TMP it's an era where not every starship has a deflector dish as it wasn't as much a necessity anymore (although still a big help for many classes of Starships)...

And once again, it's only a nitpick.  You need not modify the ship if you don't want to.  I still like the design overall and I'm sure many others do too.

MP, those were probably kitbashes made by Nightstorm or someone else - most likely from the old "Eras of War" site.

Most tend to just assume they are p81's parts, probably because his name is on 90% of the ships on Battleclinic. Many of those ships were reposted from various SFC mods and the readmes got lost or mixed up during the shuffle.

A definite way to tell the difference is that Moon uses a lot of bitmaps with odd names on his ships and doesn't have textures higher than 256x256 (this was before everyone started going hi-res).

Thats cool. Its a good looking model. I agree with those who say that a deflector/sensor dish is needed in TOS fed ships. A saladin type dish would have been best but would block the torp tubes, so your solution of using the two smaller "stereo" dishes is a good one, looks just fine.

i love the uss galaxy, only problem i find is the deflector looks distorted and the textures look too green and animated, but either way still a fav tos design i like

have any of you guys looked at the davids class atheorhaven did for the gen at war mod.

imo, it is the best pre tmp fit okinowa class. then again, i love atheorhaven's work (he kb'd parts of schupt's stuff and made part of it on his own).
