Claymore Class retexture WIP
« on: May 08, 2005, 01:36:22 pm »
Well what I have been doing in the little spare time I have had latily is this guy.
Still have a ways to go like all the light maps, the saucers edge windows, the pylons, plus the hull grid lines.

All in all I thought this was a great late TMP ship that had really good potienal but did not have the textures needed to make it work. So here is what I have done so far, it is still a WIP

People always said they wanted the government to listen to them and now the government is listening, taking notes and names...and coming to see you soon!

If you mean either of these two guys then no I haven't yet. I still don't know what I want on them to make it work sooner or later an idea will come but so far no luck.

Yeah.  The Claymore was one of my first ships, and the textures really weren't all that hot.  Heck, the whole thing wasn't all that hot.  If I could just stay WITH modelling without having a burst, then a year or two dry spell, then relearning modelling followed by another burst... maybe I'd get somewhere :D

Seems to be the way of hings though, and pretty much discribes how I texture as well. The ship still is a neat idea and/or concept though either way you go.

Some pics,
Also the problem the windows don't look right on the saucer in light blue, and the rest don't look right in white. So I will end up having to redo all the windows on the ship, which will be a long project to do. All that is left now are some bridge top work and the windows. Yes those are thruster on the saucers side.

You should probably rlease that one fourteen you never know might be the one everyone wants.

Saw the Pic and was orginally thinking that way too. But I would have to redo the top and bottom saucers and that would take up more time than I had available. I agree MP the shuttle door are gone and it is back to a solid colour again. The mapping in the area just will not allow the doors to be shown properly.

Well here we have it at 90% completion. Just need to do a registry and add any details I want to it (<== usually the most time consuming). So hopefully soon or I will just send it off to some else to finish it up.

Looks great, the only critique I have is that the "neck" ribbing should extend to the botton of the saucer, and the large gey area on the botton of the secondary hull looks very bland and gives the appearence of wasted space.

Pretty much gave it the exact same pain job as the orginal, just updated it. I kind of want the ship to be similar to the orginal concept.

Have not forgotten about this one just have not had the time to finish here yet.

Also needs a name and registry, looking for Ideas.

Here are some of the reasons fo the delay (usually because I never can work on only one thing at a time)

Did Sbloyd ever come up with a backround history for this ship ? If not I can wip one up and perhaps that'll give inspiration for a name. Personally being it's called the Claymore Class I would be inclined to call it the USS William Wallace. The design to me look Post Connie but Pre- Excelsior class. Say with a launch year of 2274. Fits nicely into the Trek timeline.

I don't remember if I did or not.  I think, at the time, I was just looking to fill out the options available for Fed BC models beyond ol' NCC 2000.

Like the name and I think I will use the launch year as the number. I could not find a write up for the ship, so if you can do one I will delay the release for a while, once I hear from you.

So ships done and ready: (just need write ups)
Belknap (Mk I and mk II) as the USS Endeacour NCC-1895
Excelsior Carrier (2 and 3 engine models) as the USS John Pual Jones NCC-472288
Claymore (no variations) as the USS William Wallace NCC-2274
