I know it has been a long time since I have done anything, but things are finally settling down for me right now, and I have been planning some new ships.

Right now I only have one ship to release for the moment, the USS Constant.  A War Destroyer done by Marauth, another fine tribute to the undead one, and a cool little ship IMO.  This shp replaces the Catalunya and the Euskal Herria, which have been reclassified as DWHs.

There are pics below, but first a preview of two of the ships I am working on, the Wilkerson which is getting a much needed upgrade, and the Rogue which is going to be the first of a small fleet of Pirate Federation ships.  They will be based on WZ's Lethality and possibily the Unforgiven textures.   They will be cool to use as pirates in your game.

I am also planning on doing several other ships as well.  Such as the Remora, Belknap, Larson, Loknar, San Jose, and some others that I wish to keep secret at this time, but you will love them.  Over the next month or so, prepare to be swarmed with Feds.  (For those of you who like other races, sorry I am a Fed Junkie.) ;D

Here is the preview.  Keep in mind that textures still nned work.

Now for the main event, ladies and Gentleman, the USS Constant!!

For what it's worth those of you who've seen the DS9TM will recognise the Constant - it's technically semi-canon - here's the EAS article on the studio model - it's the second-to-last ship: http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/ds9tm.htm.

The eagle-eyed will notice I didn't use the Intrepid pylons, I felt the ship deserved to be an actual ship from the 23rd century and not a kitbash-across-time like the Elkins. Oh and I gave it a proper paint-scheme.

There are currently 4 finished ships waiting for me to send them to Rogue (a CVA and SCS along with 2 X-era ships based on WZ's Sorceror), and another 4 started, all variants of the Okinawa (normal FF, plasma FF, drone FF and battle-frigate) with proper weapons textures/mesh for the stats using the small version.

P.S. smooth looking WIPs Rogue, the Wilkerson looks quite good, much better than the horribly proportioned scetch in the FASA manual.

Hmmm, blanks...Whenever your can, can you send those to me Rogue? I realized you emailed me earlier about but it's not in either my junkbox or inbox if you've sent it. I can wait though.

Sorry I forgot to send you those Mariner.   Maybe you could ask Marauth to help you out there, because I just had hernia surgery and it'll be next thursday till I can do it.

Can do Rogue, Mariner - got a preferred e-mail for me to send the blanks to?

In truth the blanks I and I think Rogue use are just the blanks from the version before the current of WZ's Constitution, he increased the visibility of the grid lines on the current version but a combination of laziness on my part to apply the new texture to everything I've done and the fact I think it looked better before meant my kitbashes keep the more subtle grid-lines. Anyway...

I've heard this model called the POLARIS CLASS, CONGRESS CLASS, and now the CONSTANT CLASS.

Thanks in advance

yeah but the Polaris had the extra nacelle without the extended Pylons to each nacelle (so in a sence both nacelles would act as one)

Got a pic of it ?

http://www.shipschematics.net/startrek/images/federation/fastdestroyer_swiften.jpg imagine this without the phasers on the pylon above the neck and you've got a Polaris, there were no pics on Shipschematics of the Polaris though. I think P81 made up the name when he made a TMP Saladin like that, at least that's the farthest back I recall seeing it (this was before he did the D2 models).

I've never heard of a Congress class, Constant I got from a model of it someone built, they collapsed the codename Bernd Schneider puts for it on his site EAS - 'Constitution Variant' as the study model has no name or registry. This is not a fan ship, it's actually (supposedly) in the show.

Rogue, I've sent the blanks for you to send on to Mariner to your AOL adress and I've sent the Napoleon and Julius Caesar to your MSN account like I usually do with models.

The top view of the actual studio model makes me wonder if they might not have used the part that connects each pair of warp nacelles on the Constellation-class to connect these nacelles as well...  come to think of it, this might look interesting with Constellation nacelles...  :)

It was actually the pylons off of the Monogram Intrepid model kit, it's out of scale as the Intrepid kit was a smaller scale than the horrendously attrocious AMT/ERTL Enterprise kits used. That Enterprise kit is infamous as being so innacurate the parts you can buy from amatuer 'garage' manufacturers to correct it cost several times more than the original model.

The folks at Paramount have a history of designing new ships by kitbashing the old AMT/ERTL and Revell/Monogram kits, the Constellation itself started out life as an Enterprise kitbash - the gold model in Picard's ready-room in early TNG. Though the actual studio model of the Stargazer/Hathaway/Valkyrie was made from scratch at a much larger size IIRC. Similar thing happened with the Nebula studio model being a full-size evolution from the Melbourne kitbash from BOBW.

Well, the reason for all that kitbashing is to try and do something more than the budget allows...  ;)  They never could have made "Way of the Warrior," for example, without some AMT model kits and a whole shedload of Hallmark Bird-of-Prey Christmas ornaments...  :D

When you say that parts are off the "Intrepid" model kit,  are you taling about the Intrepid-class AKA Voyager?  Cause I don't see any indication of that from the shots of the studio model--or, indeed, Berrnd's writeup on the ship.  Again, if I had to guess based just off the studio model shots, I'd say it was pieces off the Constellation-class...

That's not to say that there's anything "wrong" with your model, BTW.  :)

Yep, definetly the Voyager model from Revell/Monogram, I know this because 1. there's no model of the Constellation available, only some small scale garage kits were made in 1/1400th and 1/2500th which are both far too small for this model and 2. the details on the wings are visible from the top view and consistent with the Intrepid class pylons - only the bit between the nacelles and the folding joint, they are reversed in orientation on this model so they are swept back rather than forwards. The raised sections of detail are consistent with the details present on the Intrepid model kit, with the impulse engines removed obviously.
