Hyundai having a 156% gain in sales vs the previous year's quarter? All I can say is, WOW!  :o

This should show the impact that China and India (Even though the story does not include India) can have on production and sales in their own country!

In related news regarding China, Dell should be pissing in his trousers soon. In one fell swoop, Lenovo is now the world's 3rd LARGEST P/C manufacturer.

Does this mean that a Chinese business bought IBM?  I used to trust IBM explicitely, I suppose no longer.  I have been looking at Macs recently for our business however...that now looks slightly stronger as an option.

Thanks for the news.

Well what do you expect when they open a new plant in a place where a 'living wage' is considered $12.00-$16.00 an hour, while Detroit mucks about with $20.00+ demands?

God Save Dixie... I think that we are gonna out industrialize those Yankees yet! ;) ;D

No Dash, China did not and cannot buy out IBM, if they did (and Congress and the President approved it) we may as well kiss America bye bye as it would signal that we are truly "for sale."

What IBM was spin off it's P/C manufacturing business as Dell, Compaq, Sony, and God knows all the other manufacturers had eaten away what used to be IBM's and Apple only territory (remember the 80's?). I can kind of see IBM's viewpoint on this as why keep something that is not making any more money? Better to sell it and make something out of it while they still can. Lenovo was already a giant, it's just with IBM's extra capacity and know how they really upped the ante worldwide. WE and the Japanese, however, still dominate the most critical factor in a P/C, the microchip and RAM chips!  ;)

Yup, buy a Mac if you're going to insist on buying a pre-built machine.  PCs are much larger than Macs (except the G5's) because just anyone can build them so the architecture needs to be fairly loose so Joe PCbuilder isn't discouraged by his big hands in a tiny case.  Apple builds their stuff, again, with the exception of the G5, so that you can't open the case yourself, even if you wanted to.  In the case of my Mini, I'd need an honest-to-goodness putty knife to pry the cover off.  And if anyone's seen the late-model iMacs, they look just as hard to open.  the eMac looks easy to open, but if you know anything about the back of a CRT screen, you don't want to do that either.
I was never here, you were never here, this conversation never took place, and you most certainly did not see me.
