What the h-e-double hockey sticks are the frax?
I know they're one of the simulator races., what do they do?
(Should put those Maple Leaf Ships in)
Short lesson on FRAX:The FRAX do not have the standard orientation of weapons. The main weapons are divided between bow weapons that have FX firing arcs and aft weapons with RX arcs (FXRX evolved into FRAX to allow a pronouncable name).
I don't have my FRAX SSDs ready to hand so I will given an off the top of my head approximation of a FRAX CA armament.
2 disruptors FX, 4 Phaser 1 FX
2 disruptors RX, 2 Phaser 1 FX
2 Phaser III LS
2 Phaser III RS
2 A-Racks.
As you can see the maximum firepower to the bow is 2 disruptors, 4 Phaser 1, 4 Phaser III and the 2 A-Racks.
To either side however you could fire 4 disruptors, 6 Phaser 1, 2 Phaser III and the 2 A-Racks.
This orientation of weapons combined with average maneuvering allows a FRAX ship to keep operating effectively (vs 1 opponent) even after 2 shields are eliminated by firing from the opposite side.
The Canadiens: (The "maple leaf ships")
Unfortunately the Canadiens would be relatively crippled without serious modifications to the game. The extra mauler firing arcs needed don't exist. The current situation where the mauler also has to fire all the batteries that are charged also is a serious limitations.
A variant could be done substituting an alternate weapon for the missing mauler functionality. It might be interesting to have a Canadien ship with PPDs replacing the maulers.
