The episode was good conceptually and visually with a great story line, but whoooooo, that was some bad acting. I mean, even for intentionally campy bad acting, it was bad. Be that as it may, a pretty jaw-dropping episode overall. While the Tholian web was awesome, I wish it had been built slower and more in line with Trek Canon, as the speed with which they were able to deploy it would make it a very powerful weapon. However this is the Mirror Universe in which the Thols are expansionistic and imperial, which was such a nice touch, so perhaps the Mirror Thols developed their weapons more than the Thols.
I am also interested in how they are going to square Archer's desire for the advanced weaponry on the Defiant (a ship that disappeared in Trek Canon I think, nice touch), from 100 years in the future with the disruptions that the whole Enterprise series has made in Trek Canon. I don't believe it was canon for ships of Archer's era to have phasers (phase cannons) and photon torpedos. If they are merely more advanced versions of those weapons, that would be fine, but not as exciting, I suppose. Also I am wondering how the characters are going to be reacting to what must seem to all of us as the campiness of TOS bridge controls, displays, and design. Will this merely be bipassed and taken at face value, or will there be some jokes in there about the silliness of some of the look of the TOS bridge, and hell, even the clothes.
They certainly are pulling out all the stops. It's truely unfortunate that this series will be ending. There is so much there for them to explore. The Vulcan cultural revolution, Early Klingon Civilization, the road to the UFP. Argh, they are killing me here.
