Pondering

I'm pondering not requiring fleets and or fleet membership for participation in the ladder league...maybe doing away fleets and fleet membership altogether.

But, I'd like to see what all of you have to say on the issue before making any design decisions.

So, have at it. Good idea? Bad? Alternatives?

is it a 1v1 league?   if that is the case then Fleets are not needed.

Teams need names for 2v2 and 3v3.

Well - it depends on how you do the scoring.

GZ had a set-up on the old afcub site (and I believe it still worked for scrimmage games on the new site), where 3 unaffiliated players could form a 3 man team versus another 3 players.  Obviously, their wouldn't be a 'Fleet' score, but each individual player got their share of the points, which affected their individual standing on the points ladder.

Your still going to have players that are nominally part of the same 'fleet' play together, but the nice thing about this set up is it allows what we used to call 'Pick Up' games: if you didn't have enough players to form a 3 man team for a 3v3, you could always sub in a 'Merc' to make your team.
