I can throw someting up in a few days for fun and time killing while we get a new "real" campaign together.

Beleive it or not, I'm actually open to suggestion

2 options I'm thinking are . ..

1. Command Cruiser hell! 2263-2270. Early era CCs at 50 paces, a Kirk Wannabes's wet dream

2. X-Ship hell. Just when you though a DH mod couldn't get any MORE cheesy, ADB publishes some BETA rules for "Partial X Conversions" (XP refits). This will be fun, fast, furious, and a great way to test some whacky ideas in the only valid test, combat.

I'm open to other suggestiuons AS LONG AS THEY DO NOT REQUIRE A LOT OF WORK.

Command Cruiser hell is a nice idea, tho make it a pvp server and makedrafting 3 or 4 hexes wide, and no running unless you are outnumbered, if you run in an even fight you are classed as destroyed.

How about combining all the X ships into a single shiplist, that way either side has access to ships from any race? Kind of an X-mirrior- mirror battle. I think it would be fun do be destroyed as five different races in a single evening.

1 killing all the players on the map, I know iantheace would love that

2 who can come up with the best insults? I know we all could do very well in that department, so it wil be hard to have an outcome or some sort of victory, unless we take into account how many players get their butts kicked off the forum and give them the victory.

3 Or we could utilize the basic principals of sfc and the game. A quest for a treasure that will give universal supremacy to the victors. A game of diplomacy, where alliances can be forged on the map during the game, A game of strategy, where making the right decisions leads to the desired result. Where the capture of a neutral planet or base gives clues to better further your quest. A game where all races are included and the Pirate AI’s are hard to kill.
Quite simply set up the server so all races are allied except for pirates. Victory condition ( for the main races) can be the conquest of all the Pirate bases and home world and for the pirates the conquest of one (any one ) of the main race home worlds. The pirates HW can be in the center of the map and the Main race worlds on the borders of the map, evenly spaced from the Pirate HW. Use the line of supply rule only.
Object is easy , stop the pirates from taking a HW before they lose theirs. And defiantly use X ships

I think 3 sounds to hard to do, we should take the easy way and stick to option 1 or 2 or mayby options 1 and 2

Please excuse the lack of detail in my idea of fun, it took me 5 mins to come up with it, so I havn’t realy given it much thought, I am sure option 3 could be refined with some thought time. I wil join in on anything that gets decided

Ever thought of doing an all Vanilla server?

Start in early era, keep the map pretty small (ala GW series). Start everybody in destroyers. All line ships, no variants (not even command).

Let them fly on their own side just change the weapons. All Fed Photons become Disruptors, all Klingon Disruptors become Photons. Replace all AMD and G-Racks with Plasma D. Both sides get to fly their own ships but are forced to change styles.

Worth it and maybe fun for a short lark. I may do this for a weekend sometime in the eventual future.

Feds don't really have the turn radius to make disruptors work. Klinks don't really have the internals for consecutive upclose FA photon strikes. Might be fun to watch this for a while.

I thought that it might make a good novelty for a "fun server" as well as being useful to see the problems the enemy has without migrating totally to the "enemy".

I can just imagine the Feds who are not "cross players" saying "Thats ALL the damage?" when the disruptors fire at range 7.

Klingons going "What do you mean they all missed &**^!!!"

Myself I have played enough Fed that it won't have the same effect if I have Photon Klingons. I might actually play the Fed side just to see how well they handle the disruptors.

I have a bit of a hunch that disruptors might even do very well on Fed hulls. But then again I had about 3 hours sleep last night and it is past my bed time so I might be slightly more delusional than usual. What I did just now on the fun server tends to back up the delusional specualtion

Madelf and DIe Hard, Kougar and Corbo in a strictly regulated OOB environment where everyone else gets whatever ship they want but th9ose two have to stay in either freighters or frigates (but no X variants)

Kroma flies ISC and Butcher Gorn

Klingon mutiny enabled, and for the hell of it have Federation use non violent combat

762's fighters are all programed to attack the mothership 1 min after launch (giving them plenty of time to kill Hexx but noone else

)

Cloaking Starbases for any base assaulted by a live Romuln player (time to spead the love

)

I'm sure I'll come up with more but thats a good start for a fun server

I dunno man, there's some good freighters out there. And do we get to wing each other If you guys get BCHs and me and DH get FQLs, 2v1, sounds pretty good to me.

The Forge is OK.. It is D.net's test server, however it is using the OP Enhancement Pack v3.0 Community Created scripts as well as the OP + v4.0.
