Windows XP supports Microsoft's ClearType technology, which makes text display better, especially on LCD flat panel monitors and notebook screens. Try turning it to see for yourself whether you like its look. Here's how:
Click Start | Control Panel | Display or right click an empty spot on the desktop and choose Properties.
In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Appearance tab.
Click the Effects button.
Check the checkbox labeled Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts.
In the drop-down box, choose ClearType.
Click OK twice to exit the dialog boxes.
