Anyone got a Ventrilo that I can install?

I lost my hard drive last weekend, and am trying to get back all the stuff I need for D2.

Anyone got a link to an old copy of Ventrilo that WIN98SE will open?  I've downloaded   v2.2 and v2.1.4, and both tell me that I need a service pack with a newer version of the windows installer to install the software.

I've got all the service packs for WIN98SE, and I've no desire to purchase XP just to install Ventrilo.  (I have a disk for WIN2K professional as well, and it does a bang-up job of running D2 servers, but it seems to crash between missions when playing on the dynaverse.)

Scipio, look into the Coalition forum at bozobits.com

There was a link to the version 2.1.4 that you will need.

"This installation package cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service.  You must install a Windows service pack that contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service."

I've never seen this error before.

I would presume so.  I went to microsoft.com after installing the OS, and downloaded all the critical windows updates it said I needed.  (Most of them were to fix the myriad security holes that have been found since the release of the OS.)

I know I've used this link to install ventrilo before.  I may try to download TheDaemonTimeSwallower (MSN) as you suggest, and ask you to send it that way.

Scipio,

Look in the ventrilo thread stuck up top in the Coalition forum.    Mazeppa's post about half way down the first page has the direct link to the VT 2.1.4.     Is that the one you are getting an error on?    Mazeppa shows that he updated it on 4-4-05.    I've tried the link and it seems to work fine for me.

Give it a try.   If it doesn't work, call me and I'll send it to you.

Hell, I'll go ahead and send it to you via email.

You are of course using the term "fly" in the loosest possible form. Trust me the Queendom is better off without those oafish single malt swilling turncoats. They completely lack my style, beauty and sophistication. Besides the polls would clearly show that the Gorn populace prefers the my benevolent dictatorship to their "democratic wishy-washy I'm ok your ok" style of leadership, that is if I hadn't executed all the pollsters already.
