Dear Federation and Gorn Players
« on: April 03, 2005, 12:47:35 pm »
Please accept this Gold Plated Written Invitation to get your butts on the GW 5 server.

It is infested with Romulans.

Would you like us to send a car around to pick you up?  Perhaps some cash for your time?

Was on there this morning (two great matches where I actually got a 1v1 against different Rom players and FINALLY got to see something besides my ship being blown up -Roms have killed three so far), or being forced off the map because of bad odds.).  Roms have a 3 or 4 to 1 advantage.  Have to go make lunch and then I'll be back on.  Maybe we can get it down to a 2 to 1 advantage against us.

Could be worse. Trying to work out a crash on mission launch by reinstalling only to find my OP jewelcase empty and no clue where the disk is!
So Coalition, you're currently short one. :/

Roms have a 3 or 4 to 1 advantage.

Its a weekend thing.  Don't read too much into it.  Weekdays are different.  For that matter, even the time period (early AM, late AM, early PM, etc) will see considerable swings in numbers for each side.

Well, logged on at 10:30 a.m. PDT and you know what...five roms on to my one Fed.  Hooch logged on for a few minutes and then left. I logged back on at 11:06 and it was five roms to my one Fed.

How many people are playing Rom as compared to playing Fed and Gorn?  I thought these SFC2 servers were supposed to be more balanced and fun than the SFC3 servers, but so far it's pretty much the same except with drones and seeking and plasma.

It happens, applaud the Coalition for a great job so far, especially in pimp'n the ho's to get them to show up.

Things usually even out as the server progresses and if it doesn't just play for fun.   I'm having a blast so far.

Don't get me wrong, as long as I can keep getting halfway decent fights, I'll be around.  I have no problem taking a CLC against a Heavy Cruiser, or a CB against a Dreadnought in a 1v1 or going 2 against 3 a lot.  It's fun and a real challenge.  I can't play at this moment because it's my turn to watch over grandma and Aunt Carol, which means I'm getting up from the computer every five or ten minutes to get them something.  Can't really play a match where I have to get up and leave the computer every five minutes.  Pretty soon the rom figures it out and rushes me when I fly in in straight line for a while..

Give me a call when the odds aren't 8 or 9 to 1 with me being the only alliance player on.  It's not worth playing or even fun otherwise.

This begs the question, does a CVD make a sound when it launches it's 16 fighters and there is no one there to pilot it?

Seriously, I think it's far more concern to figure out how we can get people
going dark in mission again.

This not knowing is just crazy.

Ok, after figuring out how to uninstall the beta stuff and reinstalling the real deal... I can finally take a mission without getting an immediate "mission incomplete" and get dropped back to the map....

But now I got to go to a softball game.... cya later tonight...

Oh, and when you're CB goes boom, it gives you a sNCDR as a replacement.  That leaves the player out of commission until he gets a new ship from the shipyards.  When you're the only fed on the board, that's really really bad.

Sorry, but every time I've logged on today it's been like this. Fortunately the majority of romulans were off playing in Gorn space so there were only two or three in my area.  Of course I'd run a mission and try all the subversive stuff like Kurok mentioned, but the fact is that's been the rule of thumb on so many servers I've played on in the past that it holds very little interest for me.  When there's another two or three feds online that we can have some good fun playing pvp, sure, fine, but otherwise what's the use except to give some other players feelings of superiority as they regularly wipe the floor with you thanks to superior numbers.  I like fair fights, I like challenging fights where I'm up against a superior force, but if I fly well I can still win.  I don't like logging on and playing the hopeless fight over and over again.  If I did, I'd go play SFC3.

How many people here played SFB, you know the board game, and would have three people play, and then put extra ships on the board for the single player to make up the difference?  Or when there were nine available players put eight on one side and one on the other side?  How many times would the single player play until he walked away leaving the other eight to play on the same side with no real resistance?  If I wanted to do either, I could play the game in single player mode.

Yeah, the server started on Saturday.  Wait until the weekdays start, I was told.  Today's a weekday and romulan numbers are down or it would be fifteen or twenty to one.  Where are the fed players?  Are there any other players out there that are going to play fed or gorn?  If there aren't any, than some thinking needs to be done fast on why we're bothering.  I've seen a few people pop on for a few minutes, and then just pop off while throwing their hands in the air, and Davey's having problems logging on.

Hmm, I see something I don't like, and I'll bitch about it openly, so that's what you're seeing here - me bitching.  It's nothing new so don't take it to harshly.  I'm going to keep logging on to the server when I think I can get on and not be called away during a match.  I may even fly a few missions, a few minutes ago it was only 5 to 1, which isn't too bad of odds.  If only I can line all five up and take them in one on one.  I bid on an FFB (best ship in the yard that didnt' have a 'S' or "c" in front of it.  When the bid goes through I'll try to find that rom dreadnought and go dent its shield by blowing up the FFB in front of it.

I really thought the D2 had it made over the D3 from the way everyone talked.  Even the Gas-Free zone server while not exactly well-populated still stayed pretty even every time I logged on or off.  I'm just frustrated to see the same problems that got to me on D3 happening here.  I prefer the ships here, actually.  The only thing I miss from D3 is the warp button, and I'd hoped to not see the same stuff that made it tough to play here.

Oh and Bear, if you want to cheer me up, send me a pic of you in your softball gear... :)
