My understanding -as the build rules are written- is that you can't (technically) build a KCRf or a DNHf etc
it's listed as DNH/KCR (upgradable to f for 1 cp) so I had assumed it would cost 2BP + 1cp to build it.
Am I mistaken?
Rule:
Note on upgrades, there is no upgrade cost if the upgraded version of the ship is available when ship is initially being built. Thus a CP is only charged for upgrading and existing/surviving DN/BCH to a newer version. Also, standard refits such as the "+", "R", "K", or "F" ("F" meaning plasma F refit NOT PF upgrade which is the little "f" and cost a CP) are free.and rule:
Note: Fast Cruiser Casual Tenders cost 2 CPs to purchase or can be upgraded from a standard Fast Cruiser for 1 additional CP (R-cFFH-KF). All Specialty Ship upgrades to standard refits (e.g. "+", "R", "K", etc) are free.Since the KCRf exists initially this cycle, even though mid-cycle, and it isn't a conversion of a KCR purchased last cycle, you have the option of waiting a day to only pay 2 BPs, if the KCRf was out today you could have been flying it today for just 2 BPs. The requirement of always paying for the "f" upgrade for casual tender only applied to the fast cruisers, which only cost 1 CP in the first place not 2 BPs.
I think this is the only situation based on the FYA of the KCRf that this could have happened were you wouldn't have had the "f" version out on the cycle day.
It is an option though if you want to make MadElf wait a day for the KCRf and not flying the KCR today, so that you have another CP at you disposal. Probably best to let MadElf have another cool down day in my chambers as Cabin Boy before giving him another OOB ship too. <snicker>
