Is this workable?
« on: March 31, 2005, 01:56:55 pm »
In one of my hazes wondering how I can make Mirror Mirror the coolest server ever
(I mean other than a Fed dying in every mission) I was thinking about a rule that you couldn't
operate more than 5-8 hexes away from a base.
Therefore ther would bea another reason for people to place bases and there would be a real point to
deepstriking, other than annoyance.

You are referring to Operational Area that was heavily used in SFC3 campaigns because mandatory hex movement was not implemented.  It can be a real rules nightmare for the Admin. to enforce. So many flame-wars in the RM forums revolve about banning people for being out of OA. With destructible bases, smart teams wiould deliberately target strategic bases to "box" the enemy into a corner where they cannot escape.

Heck I'll make the planets destructable if I can figure out how..

Have the script put the planet on a playable team.  Player then takes control of the planet via the fleet action panel.  Then hit self-destruct button. It's simply the funniest thing you'll ever see.

You can also have the scripter destroy the planet at-will in the scripts.  That's also pretty funny...for the scripter anyway.

*wonders what the explosive strength of an exploding planet is*
Political Correctness is really Political Censorship

Nah any ship more than x hexes from it's base would count as deepstriking.

It's a wok of genius in progress. Quit snivelling.

A "wok of genius" indeed as your brains are already being stirfried by such blasphemy!
