Sfc 3 discontinued?

This is my first time posting here. I'm hoping some one can help. I have been looking for Star Trek: StarFleet Command 3 but i have had no luck. I want to buy it but according to one person i spoke to at an electronics boutique she said it had been discontinued. I tried Best Buy, Electronics Boutique, Gamestop, Wal-mart, Babbages, Target but none of them had it. The K-Mart in my area doesn't even sell computer games. I have even tried calling the other Electronics Boutique and other Gamestop stores in the area. None of them have it.

Does anyone know where i might have luck finding it. I really really don't want to try Ebay. Perhaps a reputable on line store or a store that i can call up on the phone to see if they have it. I live in New Jersey in the US if that helps any.

Hate to break this to ye, Xtory, but SFC3 has been discontinued for about 2 years now.  The reason for this is in 2003, Activision (the publisher) filed a lawsuit against Viacom (which owns Paramount Pictures) claiming that Viacom hadn't upheld it's end of a contract signed in 1998, and had "let the once proud Star Trek franchise stagnate".  Activision's lawsuit also terminated their rights to the Star Trek game license.  The lawsuit was settled a few weeks ago, but so far, there hasn't been any announcement of another entry in the SFC series.  As far as buying it online, good luck.  Amazon had it listed, but they were asking close to NINETY dollars for new-in-box copies.  $90 for a game that's close to 2 years old!!  That's highway robbery!

It stinks that i can't get it at a store. I have never bought a game online unless you would count an everquest expansion download. I don't even have a credit card and getting my mom to let me borrow hers is like pulling teeth so i guess i won't be able to get it.

I thought the reason SFC 3 was discontinued was because interplay went out of business though i do admit i have not been keeping up with the gaming news as much as i should. I hope, since the lawsuit is settled between Activision and Viacom that more copies of SFC 3 will be put out along with an updated patch which seemed difficult to find.

The first thing i did before i went out to hunt for a copy of SFC 3 is look for a patch online. I could not find one at Interplay since they folded. I checked Taldren's website and had no luck there either. I don't think they ever plan to put up a support page at the Taldren website despite what it sais when you click on support.

The part that really stinks is that i knew SFC 3 was out a long time ago but i didn't consider buying it. I hadn't even considered looking for a copy until after i reinstalled SFC 2 and started playing that again. So now that i wan't it and i can't get it i want it even more. lol

Ebay and members here who are willing to sell the game take Money Orders, however it increases delivery time.

As for a patch, the latest and final patch is v534_b located in the announcements section of this board.. fixed and put into an installer by me.

Taldren is out of business and as such, no more patches to come, with exception of the revision I am attempting to do on the v534_b patch.

The Taldren web site is just that a web site, all patches were released in the forums, which were transferred to here.

Besides, if you like SFC games, Orion Pirates is the best that keeps with the original SFC.. SFC 3 is a dumbed down point and shoot version designed in the TNG rea that has much less micromanagement.. It lacks the tactical depth of the first 3 SFC games...

Now SFC 3 is great if you don't like too much micromanagement or thinking when playing.

   SFC 3 is not an Interplay game only 1 and 2 EAW and OP are not SFC3.SFC3 is only an Activision game.

Agreed.  Although too much thinking was never a problem for me in the first three SFC games, since I never was good at any video games online. ;) But I would say the same.  Although I feel nostalgic enough to try hauling my butt, saving and wiping my hard drive out, and starting over with a fresh copy of SFC1 and SFC: OP... I just need to get past the part where I feel too lazy to do that.  Heh. :)

Um, I wasn't aware that working for Paramount, as you do, made you exempt from being a wacko. I would have thought that your job would actually have caused you to slide a little bit further into that category wouldn't it?  ;)

i think i can get it brand new around 50$ us at a radio shack, i can call tomorow and see if the still have it, or i can sell my copy for less and you can play multyplayer over the net with it since i never use it and the one before also.

Thank you all very much for the offers to send me a copy of the game. To be honest it really wouldn't feel right receiving something for free. I'm am also a bit paranoid when it comes to revealing real life info such as my address or telephone number so i would not be willing to pay for a copy either. I really do appreciate the offers though and i am glad to see so many nice people that replied to my post.
