Gaining rank in single player conquest campaign?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this and if it is a stupid question! But I don;t seem to be able to earn any medals or get past the rank of lieutenant in the singleplayer conquest campaign in SFC3. Can anyone help?

Check the size of the installer.. the installer should be 40.5 MB.. or it may have corrupted during the DL of it.. try Dling it again.
