A good Pentium M article
« on: March 25, 2005, 09:16:34 pm »
I found this today also while I was looking around.  This article talks about the Pentium M and the Asus adapter module to the 478 boards.  It's a good read and can give people who don't know much about the movement about putting the Pentium M in the desktop.  You can start reading about it here:

I found another article on the Pentium M adapter.  You can read about it here:

Here is a quote that I found on the very last page that I found quite interesting:

Update : As of 3/31, Asus has let me know that the CT-479 adapter is now compatible with the extremely popular Asus P4C800-E Intel 875P board.

While this kit is certainly a niche market item, we do feel that when available, those who take a chance on it will be very pleased. Impressive performance, near silent cooling, and a better overall feature set compared to other Pentium-M platforms are just a few of the benefits to this kit. While the kit may not be nearly as attractive once true 915PM desktop motherboards hit the market (offering DDR2, PCI Express, and ICH6 quad-port SATA RAID connectivity), the CT-479 kit and the Asus P4P800-SE provides an excellent stop-gap solution for Pentium-M owners.

Now IMHO I'm going to wait for the 915M motherboard before I would buy into this type of desktop processor.  This platform is shaping up to be a real gamers platform.  I'm guessing that the Small Form Factor companies are licking their lips in anticipation over this.  I hope everyone finds these articles as fascinating as I did.
