Sorry guys...
« on: March 27, 2005, 11:41:33 pm »
I'm gonna have to move on. I don't mind a strong debate but when a moderator of thses forums calls me a bigot because I fail to agree with him and his commentary stands I feel that I can no longer contribute in a fashion that I would find enjoyable. Sure would've like to have completed that ladder league with ya all.

Sorry guys.

Good luck and have fun.

Sorry to hear that, but I understand.  While I didn't always agree with you on the different topics you have a lot to contribute to these forums.  You are going to leave a void that will be hard to fill.

Good luck and best wishes,

Matt

Toasty, is leaving the answer?  There's always been give and take here, from all directions.  I figure the mods are human, too and if they poop on you, it's only 'cuz they're really no different from the rest of us.

Well, you generally posted thoughtful ones.  I hope you reconsider.

Ok...took a drive to Death valley with my granddaughters in tow and enjoyed the biggest bloom of desert wilflowers in 100 years.

I thought about this and I just can't walk away because of the careless actions of one person. I just enjoy this too much and have too many projects related to SFC and D.net to just leave.

For the person who emailed about him apologiziing: I don't need his apology to participate here. I don't operate like that. The fact that this is the second time he's done called me a bigot--last time on the Taldren forums shorly before his last meltdown--convinces me that his apology now would be what the last he made is worth. Nada.

Anyway, sorry for lossing it and stomping off. Being comapred to or being accused of bigotry is one of those that I either walk away or escelate. There is not in between on this one. Ultimately my younger sister took her life in part due to bigotry, so, I'm sure any reaosnable person can understand my reaction.

Thanks all for your words of encouragement. Even though they were never needed, they are ,as always, appreciated.

Now lets kick some code out here guys and gals and make this place rock!

Ultimately my younger sister took her life in part due to bigotry, so, I'm sure any reaosnable person can understand my reaction.

I can't.

You used as an excuse to fly off the handle, that your younger sister supposedly took her life because of someone else being an ass.

While I hope that you weren't the ass in question simply for your own peace of mind, the idea that someone takes their own life because of some external cause is almost always fallacious.  People who commit (or attempt)  suicide almost invariably do so purely for selfish reasons.  While they may list external events as "the reason," those events are just excuses or rationalizations to do something they wanted to do anyway.

I didn't ask for your approval or even your opinion, Sethan, and thankfully, niether had anyone else.

So it was just an attempt to excuse your behavior in such a way that no one could call you on it without looking like an ass.

Too bad you got caught.

Really?

Gee, Sethan, have you always been this way with everyone, or do you still hold a grudge and so you must pick a fight...even if it is over the mentioning of the suicide by my sister?

As for your alledged knowledge of why I explained my anger: You can accept what I have to say at face value or not. I'm sure if you can get past your cloud of distaste for me you'll be hard pressed to remember my sharing much about my personal life; you will find scant reference to work issues, family issues or other personal issues with the exception of my grandson's premature birth. There are a lot of reasons for my reluctance but one of the primary reasons is that I simply have a distaste for those who do excatly what you are now alledging that I have done. I can tell you that one of the other reason I am extremely reluctant to share personal and deeply hurtful events on these forums are because of folks such as yourself. Folk like yourself who WILL ALWAYS try to use that info in a hurtful manner. Always. Folks like yourself just can't help themselves. It is a fact of who they are.

I think it best that we drop this, Sethan. Your remarks are nothing less than an attempt to kindle a flame war, cause pain where it is unnecessary, and defend someone who did something that is indefensable.

Actually toasty, I'm not much on holding grudges.

If you check back a bit, I've both complimented you on these boards when I thought you posted something funny or made something good, and disagreed with you when I thought you did the opposite.

I'll continue to do the same.

I just don't like underhanded tricks.

Ok, Sethan, then take my word for it: my mentioning of my sister was and is no more than an explanation. No tricks as you put it.

Heh - toasty, I haven't been as thin as either of those people in 20 years.

Wouldn't mind having the figure of the woman in that though, if I were female.
