My favoritist plane in the whole wide world is the Grumman F6F Hellcat. It was a WWII fighter, the original "topgun" plane, and a direct ancestor of the f-14. There are only a handful in the world right now that are still flight capable (out of 12,272 produced), so I was REALLY lucky to get a photo of one as it did a low fly-by behind my house today.Coincidentally, the one that flew by looks alot like the die cast model that sits on my dresser:
