Azel's Romulan Warbird (WIP)
« on: March 18, 2005, 06:43:38 pm »
Okay, it finally happened.  I tried my hand at modeling something and decided to publicly show the WIP.  I chose one of Azel's designs for two reasons: 1) I really like his work and 2) I am partial to the Romulans.

Here's a few screen shots to shown where I am with this ship.  Comments are welcome but keep in mind that this is really my first attempt at making a ship from scratch.  Oh by the way, the textures are nothing more that a green colored version of Azel's design.  Also, I haven't gotten the low poly gig down yet.  At any rate, here's what I have got to show for now.

Unfortunately I have been extremely busy and haven't found time do do much of anything fun.   :(

Antivyrus:  Thanks for the comments.  You'll be pleased to know that it was your work that inspired me to try my had a modeling.  In my opinion this thing is still way too high in the poly count department (~10,000) but I am going to try and get it down somewhat.

Glad everyone likes it.  I will try to work on it when time allows.

Regards,

Pepperman

Okay, I have made and remade this beast quite a few times but I am finally done with it (at least from my point of view).  I even got the poly count down somewhat.  Now who is going to texture it?  Oh by the way, this is one of Atolm’s designs.

All,

I am working on the textures for this one.  Cube over at BCU was going to do it but decided my textures would be better than his.  So I am going to give it a go unless someone else wants to tke it one.

Did some more work on this bird and changed a few things to make it more like a very advanced BOP still need to make a BRK mod and hard point it but other than that i think she is done. i used the original textures from Pepperman's ship nad decided to use my own design for the warp nacelles instead of someone elses. so here are the pics of the completed ship that i dubbed the HighWind.I hope you all like it.

My son is going bonkers flying this ship around the game..he has not grasped the notion that he is supposed to be shoting at the other ships and not just chasing them around trying to ram them.

Did I mention that the shields on this monster are very tough?:D

Looks fantastic. Good job! Done it milk shape too I see. Hey Pepperman, what are you doing your textures in, they look almost hand drawn, nice detail.

My only problem with it is the TNG "Nemesis" Romulan insignia, it doesn't match the design well. IF it were to be incorporated ala tradition BoP hull marking perhaps, but I think it deters from the over all look of ship. Plus it's not centered  ;), but that may be model angle in the pic.
