Well this at least explains why we haven't seen Steve and Amy.  They must have had a melt down playing Halo2.

I suggest that you use toasty's link (which is also in the article I linked to) to find out if your machine is affected.  You may not have a reason to worry.

That is why I posted here rather than in Hot and Spicey.  I know how bad I would feel if I hadn't passed on the story and someone here or their family was hurt or worse.

It is also why I E-Mailed it direct to my sister before even posting here.

Mr Que, Mods.  I know you guys don't like spamming but may be it would be a good idea to sticky this one around the forum for a bit,so everybody can get a look at it?

I would hate to lose anybody over something as silly as this.

And remember, this defective peice of equipment was due to your support of MS...see how by NOT warning you about it, they support you right back!!!

Just another part of what would happen if MS wins the console wars...

You'd be surprised how common such problems are industrywide. Wiring defects, power supply problems, heat dissipation issues, batteries going "boom"....

Sometimes it's a small quantity of product that are faulty, sometimes it's just normal statistical failures, and sometimes it's a big deal.

A recall of 14 million units is HUGE. Be sure much investigation took place before this decision was made. The CPSC does not take such issues lightly, nor do the companies involved.

I went ahead and Unstickied this thread, as I believe everyone has Pretty much seen It. If you think I'm in error go ahead and let me know.
