My Dream Game
« on: March 09, 2005, 12:18:27 am »
Anyone like the sound of this?

Massively Multiplayer version of Sid Meier's Pirates!, with the world, rather than the Carribean as a stage.  Ships from all areas of the globe to capture and pillage (Chinese Junks, Arabian Dhows, Malay Proas), more nations to sign on with, etc.  The coast of Ireland get too hot for you? Journey round the Cape of Good Hope and enter the Indian Ocean to search for fat Indiamen.

Toss in customizable characters, some RP-support like the ability to play for the 'establishment' and join the navy, adventurous options like searching for unique treasures or other such...etc.

There are more things in heaven and earth, and in the sky, than perhaps can be dreamt of. And somewhere in between heaven, the sky, the earth, lies the Twilight Zone."

I'm hoping like gangbusters for at LEAST an expansion that will let you go into different areas- and not even a continous-map type thing... just different theaters would be nice. If we could get that soon, it would make a very nice incentive to keep playing till the MMORPG version could be worked up.

BTW... what about the board game? Have they released any more info on it than what the disk points you to? THAT looks like something that is going to go on my MUST BUY list!

The advantages of living in the Heart of Dixie- low cost of living, peace and quiet and a conservative majority. For some reason I think that the first two items have a lot to do with the presence of the last one.

Yeah, as big as the Carribean is, it doesn't take long for you to know it intimately does it?  Pillaging the South Seas or the Indian Ocean would be awesome.

I read the deal about the boardgame on their site, but I haven't heard anything else about it.  I do hope someone gets the idea for an MMORPG, though if they ever made it, they'd have to hook me up to a bladder catheter and a feeding tube.  Say goodbye to my life... ;D
