USB 2.0 ??
« on: March 07, 2005, 04:51:06 am »
My PC is 4 yrs old, I have to get a 2.0 for the I-Pod we got the Daughter for her birthday.

Should I only use that for the I-Pod, or would it be useful for other things like my printer or mouse...if it would make my printer faster that would be so cool ??

If you put a USB 2 card in it may be handy for other devices (hubs, flash drives, mice etc.. OS and driver dependent) but it will not make your printer faster. The data might get there a little quicker, but the little printhead can still only zip along so fast... ;) (and the printer's onboard processor and memory will still have the same speed)

You might want to check this out.

Many mid- to upper range- cameras use USB 2.0 to transfer images directly to the PC.

IIRC Apple says that you can charge the current generation of iPod with USB 2.0, whereas before it required Firewire or the AC Adapter.  I haven't had luck charging or synching my nephews' iPod Mini's through a USB hub, so you should probably connect your iPod directly into a USB port.
