Trek United gets a really big donation to Save Enterprise

From Trek Today

Okay, now it'll be hard for Paramount to simply dismiss this movement.  They still will, but they'll have 3 million reasons to reconsider it.

I'm starting to smell a hoax, judging by this line from the PR:

Quote
its superb theme song that tells so much about our struggle to move space travel forward and closer to the public

That's laughable.  I'm a fan of the show, but I'll be damned if you'd ever get me to describe the title track in a positive light.

(lmao) Me too. Way too "folksie" for a hard science fiction show, imo.

From what I understand, people in the space industry do appreciate the tribute to the program that the song has (at least, one of those guys on the International Space Station did when he talked to Scott Bakula).

Well, whatever.  This will make a headline or two, likely make a few more jokes on the late night talk show circuit, but won't change anything.  ENT needed 3 million viewers, not 3 million dollars.

Incidentally, it seems that the final raitings for Divergence is 3 Million viewers exactly.

Its below the Vulcan arc and Affliction, but above some other episodes.

EDIT:
OK, it appears to be 2.96 Million, which is still higher than UPN's other dramas, Kevin Hill and Veronica Mars.

No! No! NOOO!!

Advertisers want quantity, not quality, when it comes to audience.  Trek United should definitley point out to all involved that their effort has raised "over 3 million dollars."  But is there any reason to point out that this money came from only three people?

These people need to learn how to play dirty politics.  They should hire J'inn.

I hate having Enterprise on Friday nights. I always miss it and catch it on Saturday. I wonder how many viewers do the same?

I just miss it 2 out of 3 times.

Miss it on Friday, catch it on Sunday night.

I mean...honestly...Enterprise...Stargate SG1...SG1 has been solid longer than Enterprise has, when UPN moved it to Firday, they knew exactly what they were doing.

My VCR catches it every Friday night.  I wonder if the ratings count VCRs and TiVo boxes...

No, it doesn't.  I got sent a Neilson book for a two week period a few years back.  All they wanted to know was what I sat down and watched being broadcast while I was at home.

They didn't want to know what I taped and watched later.
They didn't want to know what I watched in the hotel room during my business trip.

That's a silly way to count ratings if you ask me.

I think it has to do less with real PROGRAM RATINGS than with how many folks are staring at the COMMERCIALS careening by their eyes in real time while sitting in front of the boob tube.

See, if you tape a show, you can skip the ads.  If you're in a hotel room, what you see may never affect your shopping habits.  It isn't about the shows; it's about the money the advertisers have invested.

So, a good show, like this season's Enterprise, will get overlooked while some other "hotter" (steamier, profaner, gorier) show will be proclaimed "Best Show in America" and if you're one of those who like to listen to those who tell you what to believe, then you'll believe it, too!

To me, Enterprise this season has been AN EXCELLENT PROGRAM.  But seeing the renewal history of many good shows over the many years, I think we all know that its quality has much less to do with its continuation than we'd like.

well i don't get that tv cause i need the tv indigo and unless i can pay 2x what i pay each month and buy the terminal i can't get it, so i turn to bittorent to download it, or i can wait for them to show it in french but its season 1 and i don't know if the will go to season 4, but for the part i view the translation seem good compare to tng and ds9, mostly when i kid speak eeeekkkk the just read a text, there no emotion in there voice.
