3D Max 7 Modeling - Plug Ins
« on: March 02, 2005, 08:34:21 am »
Hail all. I lost my old worhstation (pc) with most of my old software last fall in the hurricanes. I cannot seem to find a copy of 3D Max 4 out there. I am thinking about buying 3D Max 7 soon and get back to work.

 My questions are:  Is there anyone working with 3D Max 7;  and will the old plug-ins work with it?

Thanks Wulf.  Excluding the Taldren plug-ins is there anything that works well in converting to .mod format?

I am no longer tied to my Mac or Unix workstations now. What are people using for modeling on XP-OS machines?

taldrens plug-ins are the only ones for the .mod format, as you know they work in max 3 and 4 and the max 4 plugin does work on max 5 but will not work for 6 or 7. i guess there have been alot of recoding for newer versions for them not to work. you might want to check out MilkShape thats the only other modeling program i know that they have made a .mod plugin format. if you do get max seven i would be happy to convert them to mod format for you as im sure anyone using max in the modeling fourm would be happy to help out as well

I use 3D Studio Max r5 with the 5.1 upgrade and Taldren plugins for Max r4... works like a charm.

Thanks gentlemen. I wish there was an easy (or cheap) solution. I finally saw a copy of 3D Max 4 being auctioned at$500-$750.  :-\

I will see what the "upgrade" cost is. I would still need Max 7 for work.

Kind of a steep "add-on" for a $50 game... lol  ::)l
