If the error-free shiplist turns out to be truly error free, then it might be possible.

Evil Dave wrote a DB editor that allows you to type in and give any player any ship you want him to have.  (or even change his race.) 

The glitch is that the editor only worked a few times on Squadron Commander.  After that, it seemed to find an object mismatch error in the DB, and didn't want to edit properly anymore.  According to posts I saw from Bonk and Dizzy during SG4, these errors appear to be related (at least in part) to D2 shiplist errors during AI creation.

I've no idea if this is the ONLY source of errors that whacks your ability to use ED's editor.  It seemed to work forever on a stock list when I was testing on an empty server, but with dropped missions and mis-drafts I can't say that it wouldn't run into more errors.  But it is worth looking into again if Bonk is sure we now have an error-free D2 shiplist.

It will definitely happen for SQL servers - just a matter of time till I figure it out. So it will be usable on low population servers anyway, and if we get SQL fixed, then whoohoo - we're all set!

I can't get ED's editor to run on most DBs after a number turns have been run (even when on an "error-free" shiplist)... we do have the source for it though so it could be fixed... its possible someone could fix it sooner?

Also, I managed to do the flatfile webmap after figuring out my SQL one... with a bunch more work I could possible do similar stuff with the flatfile... but that will take considerably more time.

When is F&E supposed to run? I should be able to have the shipcachevector blob worked out (account creation and ship control) by then, and if we're lucky I'll have figured out whats up with SQL too (I feel I'm getting close).

That's about where it stands.
