... and my status... :)
« on: February 22, 2005, 12:15:36 am »
.. well, been a bit, work has kept me incredibly busy, I've finished three of the models I was working on, and almost am done a fourth.  But am running into an upload problem with Mackie's site that is probably directly my fault because of all the space I'm taking up over there.  :p

What I'm thinking of doing is trying to move my site onto my buddies server, but he's dropped off the radar Internet-wise again probably because of his flaky router.  That'll free up the space for Mackie, but may make things interesting for me trying to get things up and running.

On the plus side, I've also been able to grab all the messages from the old B5FC forum and am playing around with phpBB and an exboard convertor script.  If I can get those across, then that forum will go back up.  I really didn't like all the ads, but wanted to retain the messages.

And I also have a new laptop on a payment plan, and it'll support my modelling software, texturing software, SFC 3 tools and a bunch more stuff that the w95 system is only able to run grudgingly.  My main issue more than anything is time right now.. I'm typing this message in my usual fashion, at the expense of sleep.  :p

So I'm still around, I'm still working on stuff, and I'm completing stuff.  Just need to get it up and out now..  :/

Well, I'll tell you what I've been thinking about..

All my conversions for Mackie I'm going to leave where they are.. they're Mackie's of course.  :)  The main webpages I was thinking of leaving where they are with non-TCS links being linked to from the main site.

Any of my other Trek conversions that were non-Mackie, I was thinking of moving somewhere to free up space.

Any modelling programs and similar files I was thinking of moving somewhere to free up space.

The main site I'm thinking of spliiting into three parts.. a Trek part, a programs/stuff part, and a Babylon 5 part.  The Trek part I'm thinking will be my current lineup of Trek stuff, the SFC 2/SFC 1  converted G@W ships+the Trek lines from "The Station".  This part will need a lot of storage space.

The other part will be a tute/programs/stuff/other meshes site.. some educational stuff up there.  This'll need some room.. not too much.  This'll be the main part of "Mare Imbrium".

The last part will be all the ships from the B5FC project, any new ones I get together, the B5FC forums (once converted), any new B5 ships/stuff that comes out I can gather, etc.  This'll be the resurrected "The Station".  Will need some space, but not nearly as much probably as the Trek section.

The site on Mackie's will become more of a three-edged portal, with the classic site still being there, but any existing links pointing to the new locations for the old files... and all this'll be behind a new entrance designed to point people where they wish to go.  This way, any page links will still work, but some individual file download links in the forums may change.

Think it'll be awesome once it's all done.. but it's more going to need gobs of space and gobs of time.  :p
