OT questions about SFC II/OP
« on: February 20, 2005, 03:09:56 am »
Hi gang, as most of ya already know OutaLance is working on a " Romulan invasion " Mod. And I have several questions about the game, and not quite sure what catagory they fall under so i figured the best place to start asking would be here. I'm going to use visual aids so i can get my questions across as best I can.

Ok now I don't know about anyone else but I would like some of the missions to start with your chosen ship leaving space/dry dock. I thought unless you're playing a multi-part mission you should always start from dock and besides it would be cool.

1) How do I get this..............

 Inside this.............

When the mission starts ?

Next.......The mission : "Suprise the Enemy" ya fly into enemy space and find a bunch of ships just floating in limbo  :( Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

2) How do I get say these..........

X 4 or 5 ships depending on the dock

To appear docked here...............

So that along with the original problem of trying to destroy all the ships before they power up, ya have to deal with weapons fire from the dock as well. And can it be done that if ya destroy the dock, while the ships are still in it ,that everything blows up ?

Thirdly, going along the lines of these first 2 questions.........

3) Could say this ..............

Be docked here...........

At the begining of a mission, doing repairs and (you) as the player, must rely on the base to protect you while you do repairs ? And if ya can't get underway in time, and the base goes boom, you go with it ?

Finally........
4) I want to be able to play some of these missions from both sides.

Obviously alot of this is scripting I'm guessing, but are there any modelling issues that I need to be aware of ? LOL and generally is any of this possible ?

Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks

to have ship docked ad DS-9 or at the space dock its easy, you will need 3D max cause its too big for milkshap, just import the ship you want and save it so you can add to the space dock after you import the spacedock, you just add the ship you save before and place it into the space dock as save it, you do the same to the DS-9 station, but for when you start a game and want your ship to leave a space dock you will need to chnage the program but i don't know if it can be done, you will need to know the location the x00 and y00 to place the spacedock and your ship.

Ok so it's more mapping and scripting then ? Since I'm not looking for a bashing of two models into one. I want 'em to move lol.

ok you want them to start from the stardock or starbase, hmm well from DS-9 i don't know if it can be done but for the stardock it might only be a question of maping but since i never do maping i can't help you :)

IIRC .......One of the missions that came in Firesouls' package had a starting point inside a shipdock, but it's been a while since I've played due to other issues. Anyway, this aside, is anyone interested in seeing me try to implement these things in game if possible ?
