cd key wont work for sfc2 eaw need help

i recently bought a copy of this game from ebay game was brand new still in sealed up box installed it but wont accept my cd key on jewel case was there a patch of some kind that fixed this if so what is the patch number and can someone tell me if the cd key is case sensitive do i need to do it in lower case letters and with the dashes in between the code please help me anyone thank you
