Are you sure anyone can dl the ship?

When I click the link I get a message saying that there was a problem trying to access the FTP server and I should make sure I have permission to access it, then it tells that the operation has been timed out

2.? ? ? ? Ping? works, but the browser still reports a 425 error: Transparent Proxy has been disabled in WinProxy, or the local machine has an incorrect Gateway address (those two are required for Transparent Proxy connections), or the browser has not yet been configured to use a proxy (required for a Classic Proxy connection). Refer to the section on configuring your browsers

another thing try passive mode on ur browsers or something like taht

Staying up for now, I actually tried I.E. and in the process got one or two popups, not as bad as I thought (compared to the 20+ last time I used I.E. last year).  I got it.  It is a wonderful job, and as I said, there was a pet peeve or two I had, mainly concerning the lights.  They were really minor, especially with when I could open up PSP, compare the files, copy the illumination selection thing for the TGA files and do some copy and pasting... *shrug* Just so I could have a more "canon" Galaxy-class starship.
Just in my opinion, that's all, and not to downplay you guys: You've done a wonderful job converting Scotchy's Galaxy-class model as I said before again and again.  What's great in my opinion is that I could also use Scotchy's other name and registries.  I done so, and in SFC: OP, I came up with this screenshot:

(Edit: I got rid of it to conserve space.)

(I used the NCC-70637 U.S.S. Galaxy ID textures from Scotchy's Galaxy-class textures from the BC model.  Just FYI.)  The model turned out beautiful in-game and ran real smooth, but my only pet peeve in playability was that it's an SFC3 model, meaning the hardpoints don't work at all for SFC2/OP; the weapons fire from the center/"neck" of the ship.  However, if that's the only conversion, then oh well: That's the price to pay for awesome beauty.  I really like this ship nonetheless.  I know I'll be having fun with it for quite a while.  Once again, good work on converting her.

If you ask me, she looks stunning with or without the spotlights, especially when I'm sure most people who play SFC2/OP or SFC3 won't bother keeping their ambience lighting very low.

I love it.  The ship is WZ quality work.  It looks almost perfect.
The hardpoints work, but they need to be altered.  The Heavy HPs turned to Phaser HPs, and Phaser HPs to Heavy.  Right now, phasers fire from the photon launcher.  The photons fire from the phaser emitters.

Im glad you like her chris  i ended up using the Alpha channel to get the lightmaps on the sauser then made the rest up as i went i wanted to get the lightmaps as canon as i could but i also wanted her to look stunning in low light  so i added a few spot lights here and there

Hey F_W let somebody make a Nebula from it... I can't wait myself to see a Nebula class from it ;D

A Galaxy X would always be sweet to have out of this.  Or at least a Dominion War upgrade with that Gray mark down her Star drive and Phaser Strips on the Nacelles.

um I don't want to put a stinker on things but you've completely missed the battle section phasers off the neck, pylons and the pairs around the rear torp and below. Any chance you can rectify it? I tried myself but Milkshape hates teh poly count and it does detract a lot from the detail. :( Great conversion other than that though :)

I did notice the Phasers are gone but I think that is because the only Phasers in Bridge Commander are the two main ones to begin with.  But I never really cared if they were there or not, the model looks great as it is.  But one thing that I did notice is that when I viewed the ship in the Mod Viewer the textures for the Phaser strips were not there.  It is just white.  But its not really important as long as they work in the game, and they do.  I just thought it was weird.

Um no all of them are used and also you are missing the point that its meant to be as true to the real model as possible.

Marky, it's actually a conversion from a BC custom-made model by a BC modeler named "Scotchy".

Were they?  I have actually only played the Demo version and the only Phasers that worked were the main two on the saucer.  I guess they all work in the full version.

In my opinion, BC didn't last long for me, enjoyability-wise.  The mod installer things got too complicated for me back around 2002, and I played multiplayer online for a short while before I gave up.  I was about to get it until I got Klingon Academy again at Christmas 2003 (I lost it around August 2001), and decided playing that again.  Gameplay and mod-wise I say KA was better, and it gave me much memories, be it whilst playing Single Player or Multiplayer.  Don't get me wrong, BC's probably good now with more visual eye-candy, but I'm if-iffy on reinstalling it and getting all sorts of things that you don't normally need for installing mods in KA or SFC, for example.  Plus, I'm running out of space... *shrug*
I also didn't notice the missing phaser strips until recently.  I was too amazed at someone converting Scotchy's Galaxy, and I was tinkering with the ID Illumination and normal ID texture maps to pay attention... *shrug* Still, it would be nice for an update, if bothered.  That, and hardpoints for SFC2. :) But that's probably asking too much, and I should be glad with what I have.  And I am, at the moment.

Scotchy has a really nice Akira up.  Hope someone will convert it.  Please!!

Also these ones would be nice:

Also, the pictures of the BC model show phaser strips that are missing on the conversion.

Actually I have been hoping to buy Bridge Commander.  I enjoyed it.  Modding it sounds hard but I thought modding Grand Theft Auto would be hard and it turned out to be easier than modding SFC after getting used to it.  I am glad to hear that the real Bridge Commander has accurate weapons.  The Demo irritated me because the Galaxy was so defenseless.  She only had two Phasers and three Photon Launchers.  That sucked, she is supposed to have like three Photons and 11 Phasers.  Oh and that is one nice Akira.  But I’m still geared towards a Nemesis Sovereign.  I think the Nemesis Sovereign was the most beautiful Sovereign, its just that the movie was aimed at fast paced action that we never got to see any beauty shots like in First Contact.  Although I got Goosebumps when they first showed her flyby in Nemesis.

Hate to be a nag lol but is there any chance you can fix her? I opened her up in model editor and found the pylon phasers embedded in the Saucer section for some strange reason  ???. After some anoying fiddling I had them placed properly but it is still missing the 'neck' phasers.
Also the 'Venture' sub type and the Dominion War version with the added fighter bay would be so great to have converted....

Pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase lol.

I don't mean to nitpick harshly as Manitoba has done a wonderful, wonderful job here, but if the SNS Galaxy is going to be accurate (with the phaser strips), look at these pics:

(Edit: Just clearing up some space, so you won't see 'em.)

The colors on the circles drawn on pics of the SFC versions have been inverted, so y'know where they should go (roughly, not exactly).

Again, I don't mean to nitpick too harshly and whine or anything like that.  As I stated, Manitoba has done well with the conversion and I should be glad with what I have.  I am... But if improvements are in need, I just like to help out by pointing something out.

I noticed that if or when there is a Dominion War refit, that there is a dark grey marking on the back of the ship.  I don’t see the point of it but it's there.  It looks kind of neat I guess.  But the only big details were the added Phasers on the Nacelles.  But if I could have anything it would be a really good X Variant make out of this.  That would be sweet!

The new version has got serious alignment issues with some of the surfaces.  It is visible in this picture:

Aw! lol I'm glad you have such an enlightened attitude Mani. It is just merely to help you get her perfect as you say :)

For those asking about the DS9 version the BC release came with 3versions... Galaxy standard (ie Ent D), Venture with the necelle phasers, and a so-called Dominion war refit that is the same as the standard but with a dedicated 'fighter bay' above the main shuttle bay. Each version has different coloured deflectors/deflector mountings... No different coloured battle-sections despite the on screen evidence. Personally this is fine by me lol.

Heh, we're interested in the exact same ship, Spadaro.  Not just of class, but of name and registry as well.

Try typing the URL in internet explorer again, or in some explorer window or something. *shrug* It works fine for me when I do that.

To quote manitoba1073's post, "ok i think i got it figured out now. goto internet options, click advanced tab. then uncheck the passive mode. that should work now", every time I try to do that, IE freezes up.  Why not post it at SFC3files.com (it IS for SFC3, right?).

I hope someone helps him make it for SFC2 as well (and maybe if we're lucky, SFC1 too), so everyone playing some SFC game could enjoy this model, and not just the SFC3ers that can see phasers coming from phaser arrays and not only magically-through the neck like SFC2ers.

In TNG, the phasers actually did fire from torpedo bays once.  Don't remember which episode though.

In TNG, the phasers actually did fire from torpedo bays once.  Don't remember which episode though.

They did in "Darmok" [TNG].  I heard somewhere that there were complaints about it in fanmail back then.  I thought they didn't have a load of Photon Torps back then so they reconfigured it temporarily into a Phaser turret/bank/etc.  I think though in "The Best of Both Worlds, Part 1" [TNG], when the Enterprise-D first fired all weapons at the Borg, there was phasers firing near, if not inside the Torpedo bay, despite Photon Torpedoes firing.  I have to look at my VHS copy though.

As for the Galaxy-class model being updated, I'm downloading as we speak.  It'll take some time, and I'm tired, so I'll try it tommorow.

I thought the weapon that looked like a phaser was fired from the deflector dish during the Borg encounter

That big powerful beam was fired from the deflector dish, but you're confusing that with standard Phasers now.  At their first encounter of the Borg (in 2366/2367) since a year before (2365), they had some newer defensive capabilities that proved to be useful only for a bit.  When they lost shields, they then decided to fire an all-out Phaser and Photon Torpedo salvo.  At one time, I could've sworn that it looked like near or at the Photon Torpedo bay that a Phaser was shot near, while Photons were launched.

manitoba1073, there are still some problems with it.  It is still missing 2 phasers, the pylon phasers should be longer, and the size seems to be off.  I'd post screenshots if I could, but for some ****ing reason, every time I try to post said screenshots, IE crashes.

I'll take it by that post that you don't have MSN Messenger?  When people say "having MSN" normally, it means they're implying they/asking someone if they have MSN Messenger, an IM program.  Do you have any IM program at all?  AOL Instant Messenger?  ICQ?  Any at all?

Oh.  Well, I think I do, but I'm not sure.  My computer HAD AOL IM, but one of the first things I did on it was to delete AOL (I think AOL is evil, you see).  I've never had much use for IM programs, as I keep to myself.

I just opened it up in the Taldren model viewer.  The nacelle pylon phasers are imbedded in the saucer section, and I  couldn't find the other two missing phasers.

While this is still on Page 1 from recent replies, I'm just curious if anyone might take a shot at some SFC2 hardpoints on this model...  Not badly badly needed, but just curious.  As I keep saying, I have it going good having this model at the very least.

as far as the phaser strips go i had to improvise on them. as there wasnt some of them in the original file from which it was converted. for the glows im not sure y they werent removed as it was run through the sfc3 modding tools to be deleted.  ill see what can be done though.

Uh, manitoba?  You got the missing phasers corrected, but the pylon phasers have been doubled.  Also, I don't think this is supposed to be the Venture.  Plus the size still seems to be off.  Sorry if I sound bossy/nitpickey, but I'm a perfectionist.

I think the words were a bit more confusing, so I hope pictures would help:

(Edit: Just saving some space, so I'm removing pictures.  Besides, Mani perfected it!  At least for SFC3, to which I don't have...)

You almost had it right.  The phaser arrays circled in red shouldn't be there.  You were close though, and a nice move, kitbashing the Galaxy-class Dreadnought (Galaxy-X) model with this in order to get the arrays right... Well, almost.

(Edit: Just saving some space, so I'm removing pictures.)

Not as much an error, but to point out that the U.S.S. Venture in DS9 had this distinctive feature, and was a variant.  It's a nice feature, but not truely needed.  Maybe take those off or kitbash with the original engines on previous versions?

One last problem, the size:

(Edit: Just saving some space, so I'm removing pictures.)

As you can see, version three (the one before the recent version that you worked on) was pretty small, and seemed just a little bigger than WZ's Constitution-class refit.  That's real small.  And the most-recent version (version 4) is smaller than the previous version (version 3).  If you plan on resizing it correctly (preferably when comparing to WZ's work, like his beautiful Constitution-class), here's something to help:

(Edit: Just saving some space, so I'm removing pictures.)

This is a comparision of the Galaxy-class to the Constitution-class (refit), a collage of Ex Astris Scientia's Fleet Chart Picture.  I had to kitbash the picture to make the comparison much easier.

I just felt like helping out with the perfectioning of this Galaxy-class model we have in our hands, that's all.  If it takes patience or if it doesn't work out though, that's alright.  But it would be very much appreciated if it is nearly-perfected.  As I said, if such is in-progress, I'd like to help out in my own way.

Chris, I owe ya one.  You took the words right outta me mouth.  Also, for the record, take a look at this shot taken by Spartan - 117 and posted a few days after the initial release.  I think that is the size you should shoot for.

For the heck of it, I did a similar size comparison in-game SFC2 for Version 1 and Version 3 Galaxy-class Starship models:

(Edit: Just saving some space, so I'm removing pictures.)

Again, just to help.  I need to get to bed now...

(And now that I've got some, I'd like to point out my labeling error: Where it says "Version 2" in the first comparison, it should be "Version 3"... I don't know how I let that error slip by me, tired or not. *shrug*)

I guess it's because I don't bother playing SFC3 (especially when I don't have it) and that this model is mainly for that (considering the lack of SFC2 hardpoints).  Oh well.  I'm going to hit myself over that, but at least having this ship is good enough for me, I guess. *shrug* Again, thanks very much Mani.

I understand it's Spadaro's 18th Birthday today.  Well, what better way to celebrate than to give him a set of keys for his first ever Galaxy-class Starship:

Enjoy the birthday while you can. ;)

Hey!  Gimme the Galaxy, Chris! (Laughs) Seriously, though, what does the text above the ship say. (it looks Japanese, but I can't read Japanese)

I layed eyes on her before you ever did.  I even have the plaque (and I can find a CG image of my plaque and hash it out for you)! ;)

Anyways, the text is another traditional birthday greeting just translated.

"Hash it out"?  What in the name of James T. Kirk does that mean?  I would like to see the plaque, though. BTW, what is your avatar a pic of?

Wow, I hope the Venture variant will be avalible. Does SNS plan on making the Excelsior, and if so, will he use the 467m figure or the 635m that the model suggests?

Here's Bernd's article on it (biased toward 467 so he can be lazy. :P,) and the SCN links to the original topics. More thanks goes to Atrahasis for pointing the problem out. :)

First, this is "hashing it out":

Think of "hashing it out" as digging through old stuff and pulling it back out into the world from boxes in the basement or what not.  As you can see, the starfleet emblem wasn't done well, but it came from a friend I hadn't heard from in years.

And my avatar is Yattaro from a manga adaptation of the 1990 Japanese show called "Kyatto Ninden Teyande".

The name/registry number tags I have come from the original BC model that was made by Scotchy when he released it.  Just FYI.
