Request Modeller
« on: March 01, 2006, 10:16:52 pm »
Meh.  This is an old design, I just felt like dusting it off and giving it wave again to see if anyon'll bite.  Its the Osiris Class LC.

The first pic is the final design.  The second attached is the initial concept.  I was thinking that the 2-deck function (euphemistic much?) hall beneath and slightly forward from the bridge should be kept.

::CLASS HISTORY::
The Osiris-Class Light Cruiser was launched in 2385 to replace the venerable Miranda Class, and the Sabre-class.  Even moreso as Deep-Space probe ships designed to fill out Starfleet's presence in the Gamma Quadrant.  These craft are built to handle just about any situation.  Despite their relatively small size, Osiris-Class postings are sought after because of the pure exploration these ships were designed for.

That is not to say these are ships that go down easy.  They posses a fierce complement for their size class, and are one of the first Federation starships to fully incorporate the defences brought back by the USS Voyager, including armor and a limited complement of Transphasic torpedoes.  Other armaments include the standard Photon and Quantum torpedoes.  And type XII phasers.

Known Osiris Class ships include the USS Osiris (NCC-82998), USS Woglinde (NCC-83020), USS Revere (NCC-83032), USS Passage to Bangkok (NCC-83012), USS Exeter (NCC-82999), USS Lexicon (NCC-83003), and the USS Miyazaki (NCC-1941-C).

The ship should be about the same size of this model I think.

So, anyone interested in constructing her?

Kinda looks like Azel/Atolms Soulwolf.

Part Soulwolf, part Windrunner, part Ulysses, and a little of a model I made when I was little.

::WARNING!!!  CONTENT CONTAINS INFO ON MEMBER/DESIGN BACKSTORY!!!  WARNING!!!::
I used to make models from scratch when I was little.  I grew up with 'Trek, my parents were huge fans.  But I never had many of the models.  I  had models of the Enterprise A/D, but they didn't last.  The first model I had was the Quo'nos One, and I didn't have glue, so I put the whole thing togeather with spare medical tape (my mom was an RN).  Lasted a long while, too.

The other toys I had got lost as we tended to move often (every two years or so).  So for the most part I didn't have any Trek stuff.  So I decided that since I was good at drawing stuff, and I loved to doodle the ships, I'd make my own.  Long story short, little kid, LOTS of time.  I kept doing it into high school because it was a challenge, and helped improve my hand at drawing/designing.  Got pretty good at it too.  I think in the end I made a Enterprise/Voyager/Defiant/Nova Class that looked pretty close to the genuine article.  I also made a model of the seaQuest.  But thats neither here nor there.

The Saucer and top view of the Osiris are based on my first Enterprise E model before I saw First Contact.  I had only seen the back of it from the FC poster, so I had to guess at what the rest looked like.  I wasn't even close, lol.  It sort of looked like a sleeker Ambassador.

That movie was hilarious.  The movie starts and the bulb on the projector immediately goes out.  Nothing but audio.  We waited in there for forever, thought those fanboys were gonna riot!  We had to leave because there was something else wrong with the projector, and everyonel got rainchecks.

I also made a model of an Enterprise E/Voyager hybrid (call it a kids first kitbash), that I named the Odyssey.  And drew up bridge sketches (something I still commonly do with SFC models on my computer, when I'm bored).  I've been redesigning it also, hopefully someone will pick it up.

Well...I've bored you guys enough with my sob story, lol.  Apologies.

C'mon someone.  I know she's not a mammoth like the Sovereign or Galaxy, or Akira, or Dawnstar or Majestic.  Those are all great ships.

But they're huge.  And the Alita and Defiant ships are great....but they're tiny.  There's no ship that truly fills the role the Miranda fills in the TMP timeline, and not any that have the attention to detail and drop dead gorgeous looks of the Selfridge, Majestic, or CG Sovereign.  The Osiris is meant to fill in that gap for EAW/OP, and fit into the post TNG/pre STO (14 years prior) timeframe.

Come on...anyone?

I'm sorry for the double post.  But I wanted to give you guys a look at Kreearch's awesome work.  He's been making the Osiris.

These are some WIP shots from the personal messenger:

According to Kreeargh she's at 2044 polys at the moment.

I dunno about the rest of you, but I'm gonna start bowing now.  All hail Kreeargh.
