dynaverse and firewalls

hi all i was wondering if anyone can help.

i have norton internet securities 2002.

my firewall is stopping me from getting on sfc2:op.
it even does it when the firewall is disabled.

can anyoen help please.

Make sure that the Windows XP firewall is off too. Particularly if you got the SP2 update.

i don't use windows xp firewall its useless anyway :)

use norton personal firewall and i don't really wabt it disabled while i play you know how many hackers it stops and trojans every 10 to 15 minutes when online i get 1 or 2 trojans tring to inject me and 2 hackers. back orrofice is a gfood 1 i get 1 a day of that.
so many ppl out ther have no idea they have viruses that automatic send to other ppl.

no firewall u get hacked

XPSP 2, Windows Firewall is on by Default with no exceptions.. you may want to check in Services.msc and set Windows Firewall to Disable and restart your system..

Next you may want to get a real firewall like Zone Alarm where you can easily configure ports for your system.. You know how many times a minute Norton Firewall gets hacked?

Software firewalls suck! (the life out of SFC...) Kill them all! Die!Die!Die! Dammit!  <takes deep breath> Try http://www.linksys.com instead.

You may want to format and reinstall windows in order to be able to fully purge your system of the Norton virus.

Browse a little more conservatively and carefully, (and monitor others who use your PC), uninstall Kazaa, WinMX and any other filesharing P2P software, run adaware and spybot search and destroy to purge their crap, release and renew your IP address (ask your ISP to reset it if necessary) so you get a new one... stay off any suspicious websites and don't use filesharing apps and you'll find that your firewall (if installed) falls strangely silent... ;) 

See, if you never download and run a trojan then these people and their associates will not even know you exist... The "Golden Rule" applies, even on the internet...

Mention "anonymous proxy" and I'll laugh my ass off... proxies are evil... all of them.

Most hits on a clean system's firewall are local network members poking for open shares... if you're smart, nothing to worry about at all (with a legitimate updated copy of windows - or a secure samba config if on *nix).

Note: if you must use a software firewall please allow pings and let your gateway, DHCP and DNS servers through... for your ISP's sake... :banghead:

If you're gonna run HTTP, FTP or mail servers then do not run them on the standard ports... security to run on standard ports is too much for the home user...

P.S. Firewall free for over 3 years now... haven't been hacked, haven't gotten any viruses or trojans... explain that... ;) Follow my advice and you too can enjoy the freedom of an untainted tcp/ip stack... (see your real network speed - not like bogus "accelerators")

P.P.S. if you do use a full version software firewall please get it from a legitimate source, otherwise you cannot trust the product and may in fact bring attacks to your machine...

Never tried Norton firewall...but, Bonk's right. ZoneAlarm works great. Had it since my 1st computer, never had any problems and I can hold in mission with 5-6 players, as long as all involved have higher speed connections anyway.
And as a free download, the price is right!  ;)
