But counting the VCs might not be a good idea if the hope is to get truely new players into bigger ships.

Dallas surfal and soreyes are not new players. Just havent had the opportunity. they lose the BC they give points away.

Dizzy, come on man, you never scroll down the pilots list?   I'm flying Rom on SG4, occasionally Lyran.  Since I gather you were trying to award one BCH to each side, I'm guessing someone else gets to fly it.  Though I'd take a KCR anyway

Wish I had known about this. I'd have put my name in the hat. Personally, I don't expect to be a casual player. Just didn't get a chance to sign up officially. Had originally considered going the way of Kermit, but I discovered from mere single player campaiging that it's not easy being green and decided to stick with what I knew when I was finally able to get to the Dyna. I currently fly as Kzin if possible, flying Hydran vessels only when I get blown up and have to work my way back up it Kzinti ships.

So much for getting a BC. Guess I'll have to make do with my heavy cruiser. I sniped a hex from the Klinks in that ship earlier today. And pounced on a couple neutrals. Also drafted with Kroma in a Z-MCC+  Wish I was seend some Drone Cruisers, though.
