Thanks. Though I have moved out of the ST arena. This is mainly inspried by  ships I  have seen in Andromeda. I like the freedom of not having to have nacels. Everything in Andromeda is slipstream with a wide variance on engine types. I'd like to create an Andromeda era race, though sci-fi writing isn't my strong suit. I can do it some but not near as well as others in the forum.

I also just watched forbidden planet. A 1956 Sci-Fi classic. The sets on that set were so well done they didn't even look outdated 50 years later. It was really impressive for back then. Though the ship was a flying saucer, the stage sets were designed beautifully. Of course when they fired blasters it looked lame, but for 1956 not bad. I like the shapes used for Sci-Fi from the time period. Probably drawing some from that movie.

hehe, I think that last one is a bit too much. After years of research, er um I mean a few hours this may be the best as far as streamlined. Sometimes less is more.

Pretty good design.  However... For some reason, when I look at this picture, I'm reminded of (the silhouette of) Boba Fett's Slave 1 ship (at least).  *shrug* But interesting design nonetheless.

Not famiiar with Boba Fett, was that a ship from a SCI-FI movie? About the designs. Often when I do a design, at first I like it but then later after looking at it I feel that its lacking something. I mean I feel like I am close to something here but some are to cluttered. The last one doesn't feel cluttered by seems to lack something. What I tend to do is just drop it and pick it up again later.
I did a series of basic hull shapes after being inspired by the retro look of the Virgin One spaceship. Then at one point I had attempted to turn this into  a Hydran though I decided it wasn't the best fit for that and want to do ships without nacells.

Lord de Sies, are you saying you might be doing an Andromeda mod? If so I could get more serious about doing the essential ships like the Magog attack ship and Restorian destroyer.

That's a pretty wicked ship you made there red_green! Would you consider releasing both versions (the more streamlined and the one with the extra scaffolding on top)?  ;D

Sure I have been trying to pick out the 2 I  best ones. The last 2 would probably be the ones. Just to warn you that the one with all the scafolding is around 11,000 poligons. Otherwise without all the roll bars and extra guns it would be 7500 or so.

Posting this last one. The only real difference is I divided up the front side guns. The part that was just acting as a support is not spli off and is an extra gun. I think this makes it better from the top view but I'm done screwing around with the mesh. Like to try some alternate hull textures.

I re-did the textures a bit. This is 1 of the final versions. Just a matter of converting to game. This version is 6300 polies. So it will be reasonable for game use.

You know, Red, with all those tentacle-like structures and the black and white pictures, it looks kind of scary.  Good job!

Thanks, I am still tweaking the textures, this set has better contrast. I will be deleting many of the previous pics only because this thread is getting too image intensive. Then I threw in a neon  one  and another odd one just for fun. I like to just mess around a lot.

Some in game pics. The back texture seam to class with the rest of the ship. This is intended as a bounty hunter in the Andromeda era. As such the textures should probably be more generic throughout.

A pic of the textures more uniform. This needs some more detailing or something, just not looking like I had imagined it.

I think some of the texture patterns repeat in an all too predictable way... maybe if you sort "randomized" the arrangement.
