How much do I feed the little bastard anyway?
« on: January 08, 2005, 11:37:56 am »
Saber is getting fairly big now, on all axis.  Exactly how much should I be feeding him and how many times a day should I feed him?  I don't need a black garfield runnign around.

But tell me, can you heal what father's done?
Or fix this hole in a mother's son?
Can you heal the broken worlds within?
Can you strip away so we may start again?
Tell me, can you heal what father's done?
Or cut this rope and let us run?

Depends on If you have Mice where you live.  Heh, seriously since Poo has adopted Khalee, He just leaves a bowel of food on the Computer Desk he's using , and covers It up at night.

Then again Poo eats the Dog food also so...

Well Thats what I did with all my cats I had Just left a bowl of food out and they ate when they were hungry. Also gave them canned food once in a while as a treat. So try that.

Since you only have the one cat I would say about 1/2 a cup of dry a day and wet catfood on the weekends.  But you also have a dog in your house . . .  do the animals eat eachother's food?

I like the way mew mix used to taste when I was younger.  Then mom said I might turn into a cat if I ate to much, so like any well adjusted child I ate more.  Dang if it didn't work because now I like to have my ______ petted!

1 cat, 1/2 cup of dry food..but make sure the water bowl is always full, especially now in the winter time, since many heating systems will dry out the house, and dehydrate an animal.

It would appear he prefers to drink out of the fishtank.

Is that drinking, playing or hunting?  Or a combination of all three....?

Have fun

Thats good.  My Pretty Girl mostly avoids the fresh kitty water dispenser left on the floor right next to the food bowl and goes for the kid's fish tank or any of the three toilets in the house.  Why the toilets?!  :-\ :P  Ewwww!

OK Sirgod is kinda right . . . Tubby does tend to eat more . . .  He loves coffee beans, Doritos and bread.  What a freak!  Oh yeah and he likes to take every oprotunity to escape the house so that he can graze on the grass. :D

Turn him into a dog?

Cats are nocturnal... you want to sleep, he wants to play. It's a fact of life. It took my last cat a couple of years to get on a daytime schedule with me.

Especially this one it would seem.  I've noticed that he likes to lurk in the shadows alot, especially when ready to pounce on a target.  Other things he can hide behind don't seem to affect him.  Hedoesn't care to use cover unless that cover provdies him darkness.

Well, I know I can't prove this one, but I know that the theory behind it is sound.

It's harder to see looking from light into shadow than it is to look from shadow into light. I think cats are born with this knowledge as some kind of devine gift. ;)

He hides there because the effectiveness of his cover is increased by the fact that your eyes are not as well adjusted for seeing him as his are for seeing you. My cat WILL hide behind anything available if she want's to pounce, but she prefers shadows or things that block line-of-sight.

One live mouse per day is the perfect diet for the domestic feline.

Petfood equivalent: 1/4-1/3 cup of dry food or one small can of wet food per day (the little cans - about 1/3 the size of a can of tuna). Obviously, ensure an unlimited supply of clean fresh water as well. Milk and dairy should not be fed to adult cats.

Ensure the food is of high quality or the cat will develop digestive/metabolism problems as it ages... look for a low ash content in dry food, and look for real meat in wet food. Brand names like "Science Diet" and the like are the way to go, stay away from Purina... their feeds are OK for an animal you are going to eat but are substandard for a long healthy life for a pet.

I realise most cats will react badly to this amount of food if previously overfed, they will chew your ankles off for a few weeks but will eventually adjust.
