More Shiplist Questions...
« on: January 12, 2005, 11:37:53 am »
1)Anyone know if the stealth (+ECM) switch works?
-if so can it be used for all classes of ships? (Pfs etc)

2) Waht do "deck crews do" Do they have any real function in game?

3)Is a ship SDing based on the "explosion" number or (what I thought) all the power th ship has left?
Or a combo of both?

I tried giving scout PF's a stealth bonuses in Squadron Commander.  It didn't seem to work.  That's a pity.  I could have sworn stealth bonuses worked in EAW.

Don't they control the number of fighters that you can regenerate?

It's the explosion number.

<warning:  irrelevant history>  SFB used to use a calculation procedure that counted remaining engines, stores, mines, and armed torps to determine explosion strength.  They did away wiht that, however, and went to the explosion number that SFC now copies.  The reason given was that players were doing very illogical things with their expensive warships, that no sane government would ever allow, like driving their BCH or DN into the middle of an enemy fleet and hitting the self-destruct button.  The explosion number is generally small that what the old calculation method used to give, and since it is a set number you can't stock up on things to make it bigger.

On SG3, I had the explosion STR of ships equal to their Warp power, hehe, which was 50% or more higher than stock. No one complained but me, cuz I KNEW what happened when my allies popped a ship while I was too clase to it, damn them.

SG4 has gone quite the other direction. Exp Str has been cut down 30% from stock. It is unlikely you will lose a ftr squad when a ship blows. I think this blows, but oh well.

And speaking of ship questions, Hexx, I wonder why the L-BB only has a one shuttle launch rate. Kinda strange considering most Lyr ships have 2 or more.

Don't know about the BB. Although I've got the SSD not sur how to tell what launch rates supposed to be.
Besides I'm having a hard enough time trying to get DH to fix the Lyran ships we might actually build.
I really don't think he likes our poor little CVD.
