That guy better bring about a hundred books and his Gameboy.  That's going to be one long and lonely trip.

To be fair we should be able to submit names for the mission. I'd like my boss to go as long as the trip was a long one and it was one way! LOL

Sorry, Toasty; somehow I doubt that man is credible. I cannot see NASA sponsoring a one man mission of such duration. No  do i see them doing much manned science on such a mission. The chances of that man croaking or becoming incapacitated would completely destroy a billion dollar mission on which much prestige and street credit are riding. I think the idea of a one man mission to Mars is ludicrous. I rather suspect that the man was a looney or the reporter was a looney.

Storm, that is why they are coming up with a new AI computer system named HAL. That way if the guy becomes incapacitated, the computer can take over, after it jettisions the body of course.
Only in America .....do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

Just as long as they don't design it for information retrieval and dissemination and then instruct it to not tell the pilot about the real reason for the mission.

just our luck, they'll send up the guy that leaves the turn signal on for companionship and the Vulcans swing by at Mars and see the Earth ship flying half the trip signaling left and they'll pass by thinking we're total morons lol
I was never here, you were never here, this conversation never took place, and you most certainly did not see me.
