Personally I tire and cycle through various sci-fi series...
My enthusiasm for Trek was on the wane as they released Voyager, and it has progressively declined over the years. Even the movies didn't do much to bouy my interest - but I still like modelling for it, but you'll notice I tend to steer clear of the Federation. I just can't stand the cloying, saccharine, holier-than-thou schmaltz they've come to represent. Characters are safe and have become watered down clones of what we've seen before, and the storylines tend to suffer from a lack of longterm cohesion... Significant moments are glossed over quickly and forgotten. You could argue this is down to using different writers and directors, but then that's where the script/story editors should bounce in and take control...
My perenial favourite remains Doctor Who, although I've recently revisited The Avengers/New Avengers, The Tomorrow People, Space 1999, UFO, Sapphire and Steel, Blake's 7, V, Buck Rodgers <gasp!>, Lexx, Lost in Space, Timeslip, Logan's Run, Battlestar Galactica (1970s), Babylon 5, Farscape (probably my favourite of most modern Sci-Fi series)- and I'm currently working my way through the first six seasons of Stargate as well as the new Battlestar Galactica (last night's episode was probably my favourite since the mini-series)...
I have yet to see Andromeda - but when I start earning pennies again, I may just buy it on DVD anyway - either that, or start picking up Hitchcock movies or more Ealing films (just WHY did they bother remaking The Ladykillers!? - and so badly too!!)
Which reminds me - does anyone have or know of schematics for the Flagship Draconia from Buck Rodgers?
