Valiant Class WIP.....
« on: January 02, 2005, 03:27:42 pm »
This has so far taken me just over 6 hours today to get this far. Originaly source 72,000+ poly model/textures is located on www.startrekaustralia.com and created by Jorg Gerlach, so many thanks go to him. I was planning on attempting this over 18 months ago but my modelling skills weren't really that great. Now I feel a bit more confident to attempt the mesh as my results are getting better with each model. Anyway, this is a heavy WIP at the current time (poly count is aprox 2380) and the mesh is around 40% complete (albeit with minor tweaking).

(forgot to add this). Two things will happen once this mesh is ready:

1) It'll be an SFC3 release ONLY. That means, no BC, Armada or any other publically converted releases (and no, I'm not being heartless. I'm just a little tired of seeing more releases for BC than SFC3 (which I also play more often)).

2) Don't expect to see this on any other site, other than Outalance Shipyards.

iv decided to take a leap out for your book MAP, and model in a similar fashion to you, but max has an untidy habit of shutting down at random intervals, and just befour i normaly get to ave the model, so big pain in arse.

v.nice ship btw.

Well here we go people. A BIG update. Both sets of wings are done (except for the weapons arrays on the front wing set), and the nose is yet to be completed (thats next anyway).

Looks nice, good to see what should have been used for the Valiant in that episode where they take on a Dominion Battleship.

I can get that you don't want the ship converted but surely you'd consent to someone doing SFC2 and SFC1 versions - it is the same game after all.
If I determine the enemy's disposition of forces while I have no perceptible form, I can concentrate my forces while the enemy is fragmented. The pinnacle of military deployment approaches the formless: if it is formless, then the deepest spy cannot discern it, nor the wise make plans against it.

As Major Payne and i have Disscussed Outalance will be Holding the Rights for this Model once complete the first release will be for SFC3 then the other versions after which there is bound to be a BC release and around the same time a quic Armada release

Conversion to SFC3 is down to those who are carrying it out. I just model, I don't mod SFC3. SFC2 and OP conversions are at the discretion of Fallen_Warrior and Co. I can't seem to stress this enough. THERE WILL BE NO BRIDGE COMMANDER OR ARMADA 1/2 RELEASE OF THIS SHIP. So please can people refrain from asking as the answer will be a direct "NO". If I see anyone who publically releases this ship or its texture for either BC or Armada 1/2, then I'll be doing everything that I can to have said release removed from the site its released on.

No need to appologise Fallen_Warrior. Its a very little known fact which of the two games I personally prefer and normally I dont' mind. However, I've worked longer than normal on this baby (besides. Its my perogative anyway, so there!!  ;D)

Well the mesh is completed as far as I'm willing to go. Poly count is 5092 and these are the final two shots before texturing begins.

Thanks all. I know it looks good, but then thats due to the detail. I know the fronts a bit square but the textures should cover that up a bit.

MP. The completed unconverted model was sent to Fallen_Warrior a good while ago for conversion and hosting. There should be a thread on page 2 or 3 of the main forum.
